"End of the line for Ford's mammoth Excursion?"

"DETROIT - Ford Motor Co. will kill off the Ford Excursion, its largest sport utility vehicle and a lightning rod for criticism from environmental groups, next year, a source familiar with the plan said on Monday.

The mammoth vehicle will stop rolling off the assembly line in September, as Ford moves to free up production capacity for the refreshed Super Duty pickup truck, said the source, on condition of anonymity."

Don't worry, I'm sure they'll just replace it with something bigger.

I want one of these with some spinners:

I'll never forget the time I saw one of them things pull into a parking space at the mall. The driver needed about 5 attempts to get in straight. The door opened and this little 5ft 1 inch women climbed down. The top of her head didn't even reach the door handle.

They're replacing the production of the Excursion with that of a Super-Duty. In other words, chaning a dollar for 4 quarters. I don't see how that is going to kill the tree-hugging criticism.

Maybe because the F350/F450/F550 has more utility.(?)
