The estimated 2,500 enthusiastic attendees who brought more than 1,000 different Chrysler, Dodge and SRT vehicles to the eighth annual Spring Festival of LXs this past weekend in Irvine, Calif., received an exclusive first peek at the latest limited-edition exterior package from the Chrysler Group’s SRT (Street and Racing Technology) brand, as president and CEO Ralph Gilles pulled the cover off of the new 392 Appearance Package for the Dodge Charger SRT8.

Designed to offer a modern interpretation of the classic muscle-car styling cues of the Charger SRT8, the optional 392 Appearance Package adds an extra dose of menacing appearance for iconic four-door fastback coupe, with the following new appointments:

The 392 Appearance Package option will cost $2,495, and customers can begin ordering in April.

Dodge has a rich history when it comes to muscle cars, and it trades on such lore now and again with special-edition models like the Charger SRT8 Super Bee and the Challenger Yellow Jacket. Entering 2014, however, Dodge is taking retro to a whole new level, and in a good way, with the re-introduction of its factory Scat packages. The Sinatra-like name comes from the original Dodge Scat Pack, a Dodge enthusiast club whose popularity led the factory to first introduce stage kits nearly 45 years ago. Dodge brought a trio of Scat-outfitted cars to the 2013 SEMA show, and here’s how the kits break down by model, sans pricing, which is forthcoming:

Each Scat Pack–eligible Dodge offers three stage kits; the Challenger’s requires the 5.7-liter Hemi engine, naturally. Scat Package 1 brings a retuned engine calibration, a cold-air intake, cat-back exhaust, and a Scat Package 1 badge. Scat Package 2 adds a further retuned ECU, a Mopar camshaft, and a Scat Package 2 badge. Finally, Scat Package 3 mixes Mopar ported and polished heads, high-flow exhaust headers, and an ECU tune to suit its specific upgrades; of course, a Scat Package 3 badge is included. Dodge’s SEMA Challenger Scat Pack car further amps up things with a bunch of stuff from the Mopar catalog, including 20-inch “Classic II” wheels, a new electronically variable side-exhaust kit (which keeps the pipes going aft, but can reroute sounds and gasses to a pair of side-exit outlets), and an adjustable coil-over suspension.

Similar to the Challenger, the Charger’s Scat packages are only compatible with the 5.7-liter Hemi engine. In fact, Dodge points out that the Charger’s kits mirror the Challenger’s and bring identical performance gains. As for the SEMA Charger Scat Pack, Dodge fitted 20-inch lightweight wheels, a front splitter and rear spoiler, the variable side-exit exhaust system, front and rear strut bars, and an adjustable coil-over suspension. A note on the unique exhaust setup: Given the unit’s questionable noise and emissions standing, Dodge is making the system a dealer-installed accessory; buyers won’t be able to get it factory fitted through the Mopar Custom Shop.

New Redline Package delivers more horsepower and style with pulse-pounding Beats audio

Like the popular Rallye Appearance Group and Blacktop Package, the new Redline Package on the 2014 Dodge Charger delivers more performance, style and a segment-exclusive studio-quality sound experience.

Available on the rear-wheel drive (RWD) 2014 Dodge Charger SXT and SXT Plus models, the Redline Package includes 20-inch Black Chrome wheels with a Redline Red lip and inner backbone for a one-of-a-kind look. In addition to the 20-inch five-spoke aluminum wheels, the package includes all-season performance tires, performance-tuned suspension, sport seats, rear body-color spoiler and exclusive Beats by Dr. Dre audio system.

Delivering more power and performance is a 300 horsepower 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine, featuring a cold-air induction system and sport-tuned dual-exhaust system with an enthusiast-desired sound. In addition, the segment-exclusive eight-speed automatic transmission is upgraded with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters and “Sport Mode.” With Sport Mode, gear changes are quicker and revs are held higher for even more performance-oriented acceleration and higher shift dynamics. The partnership between Dodge and Beats By Dr. Dre brings music-studio sound to consumers in cars not just by adding speakers, but working with the music makers themselves to reproduce sound the way that it’s made in the studio. Instead of the traditional approach to automotive sound, entrusting lab coat-adorned engineers as the arbiters of musical taste, Beats by Dr. Dre founders Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine worked side-by-side with the engineering team at Chrysler Group to design and tune the 10-speaker audio system.

Dodge Charger delivers 5-Star Safety Rating and IIHS Top Safety Pick
The Dodge Charger has achieved 5-star safety ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The 5-star rating is the highest rating for safety by the Administration and measures vehicle safety performance in three categories, including front, side crashes and rollover crashes.

Dodge Charger achieved an overall 5-star vehicle safety score. The rating is a combination of frontal, side pole and barrier performance with the static stability factor accounting for the rollover rating. Dodge Charger also achieved high marks in rollover testing with a 4-star rating.

In addition, Dodge Charger was named a “Top Safety Pick” by the IIHS – its highest rating. The IIHS recognizes vehicles with outstanding crashworthiness in front, side, rollover and rear crashes. The Dodge flagship sedan received “good” ratings, the highest achievable, in all four categories.
To be considered, vehicles must have available ESC systems that significantly reduce crash risks. Dodge Charger has standard ESC.
