it looks mean...it's good to see dcx bringing another car to market that doesn't stray far from the concept.

Challenger looks awesome, but too heavy for my tastes, and the 6.1L hasn't been all that mod friendly due to a locked PCM thanks to Zee Germans. (I think this is still the case despite the split.) The Camaro, on the other hand, will likely have a L98/LS3 option, and which will make it stupidly cheap to make so fast you're scared to drive it...but then you do anyway.

These things, like the GT500, are targeted at aging baby boomers who lusted after these cars in their glory days, and are now retiring with festering shitpiles of money to spend in pursuit of reliving their youth. Thus the exorbitant price tag and imminent price gouging.

LOL, If G37 interior is cheap plastic with decent texture and ugly fonts, then what is the interior of Dodge SRT-8 is? DODGE cars uses cheapEST plastic and Ugliest texture and horrible fonts. Just like typical AMERICAN cars.

Do you think this Dodge SRT-8 will have any chance in other countries? In the World? Everyone in the world knows its just another American muscle piece of crap. And, the whole world knows that G37 is a quality made car.

These cheap and low quality American cars exists ONLY in America, in which narrow minded trailer park hicks herald them as AMERICAN~.... LOL...

Considering Dodge will never attempt to sell this car outside of the US I have no clue where you are attempting to base your argument from.

But it sounds to me like you have never even been out of this country before. Because the states is known for its big american muscle cars. And people over there love the idea of them as we american car enthusiasts loved the idea of a Skyline GTR for years. Its a common, inexpensive car that many had over there. But to bring it here meant costly transportation and emissions conversions. The same goes in other places for our Mustangs/Camaros/Firebirds etc.

You also sound like you have never actually been in a SRT. I have been in all of them. And the interiors of the Magnums, Jeep, 300 etc SRT models are just fine. Many are comparable to several other manufacturers.

I think you also forget all over the world the G37 is just another Nissan Skyline. So, a quality car, maybe...but nothing of the prestige you are trying to pump into on this board. You're eyes are just growing big because it has an infiniti badge.

Whats also funny is all these cheap, low quality, american cars driven by all these hicks are getting their platforms from next gen european/austrailian platforms.

What I really see here is a typical ignoramus. And by that I mean you.

I enjoy how everyone is commenting on the car without even having driven one yet.

Me...I am seriously debating about putting an order down on the 3rd. Questions is will I be able to afford one.

Funny how people want to put a deposit down before even driving it.

.......... powered by a 6.1L HEMI V8 that's available with a 5-speed automatic or six-speed manual (though prior reports state you need to wait for the '09 for the latter).

Clearly that is someone (msl82) who has never DRIVEN a V8-powered muscle car with stump-pulling torque. NOTHING else sounds like it, except another big American V8, maybe. Actually... have you ever even SAT in one? I don't see how a driving enthusiast could be so hung up on an interior.... unless all the ergonomics are screwed up, or all the instrumentation is hard to read, dash looks like complete ass, I don't see whats wrong with it.

He's probably one of those tools who knocks on the center console... if it sounds hollow, then its cheap.

I still want to see some critical specs on the car. What does it weigh? I am sure that it will be roughly 3900 lbs, but I might be wrong.

Man ever since you got that Camaro, you're suddenly the american car expert lol

My friend has an 04' (or 03?) Cobra and my other friend has a 00' Dinan M5, and I can tell you the M5 sounds like a fuckin MONSTER. The mustang sounds nice and loud, but its no match for the ///M.

Although, when it comes to a sports car I will be gladly take a center console that sounds hollow. But not on a luxury car.

This car sure brings out the racist/bigot comments, i.e. narrow minded trailer park hicks or aging BBs comments…Like if you like an auto/truck I do not then you are sick…..some like curves/turbos and some like edge/V-8….and the mustang is not as good as the Dodge, camero or G-8 as it is some what dated but it is still a good current comparison…

I dare say the knockers have not ever owned a high torque V-8 in a small good handling package…probably some blind with hick bias will not even test drive one…We are talking heavy torque (you can drive these things from a stop in third when cruising the strip i.e. no shifting necessary when hugging your main squeeze), good V-8 sound all for less than the price of a MDX?? Heck the Vette is a good buy at 50-60m…

these will sell so open your mind to new things…you might just like it…if not smile and tip your hat to the ones that do like it…

Dodge sells 6,000 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8s in 3 days

On Monday, more than 4,300 people walked into a Dodge dealership to put in their deposits for a 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8. As of today (Wednesday), the number of deposits taken for the car have reached 6,000.

If you don’t care for settling for the base version, you better hurry out quick and put your orders in for the 6.1 liter HEMI V8 version since Dodge has said they will only produce 10,000 units.

The 2008 Dodge Challenger will arrive in showrooms next spring with the pricing of the SRT8 set at $37,995. The car is available in either Black, Silver or HEMI Orange.

With the writers strike and all, its just the worst time to go run out and drop coin on a new car...

I'll have to wait and see what happens in the coming months.

There was one at the Boston International Auto show last week. It's nice - better than the Camaro IMO. I think it's truer to the original.

i don't think the Camaro designers were trying to stay true to the original. The just wanted some inspiration.
I can't wait to see either car. The Camaro will most likely be well rounded car as far as speed and handeling, GM seems to be better and making the complete package these days as compared to Ford (all muscle IRS) and Chrysler (all engine.) Regardless they are all teh hotness. It is the 60's all over again!

not bad styling but the last car I want is a Chrysler or v8 or something which weighs as much as a tank. It might not be a bad car but are they expecting a mustang competitor to save their company? I'll wait until I drive one, but just a v8 doesnt sell the American consumer anymore, I needs to be well engineered

I drove a Magnum SRT8 last year and I was VERY impressed by it overall. So, I'm expecting good things.

Ask Belty how he likes his Jeep SRT8.

I am a huge fan of the Jeep SRT8, and the 300C SRT8. Unfortunately these are all far from what I can afford anytime in the near future (And I wonder how many people can nowadays). And I respect those cars but I wouldn't want to buy one, just like this car.

I think this summs up my feelings perfectly:

Why does the brochure show the concept car and not the final production? Kinda annoying.

And 425hp is cool and all but it better be in the 12's on street tires bone stock. I'm going to guess it won't be since it's so damb heavy. Charger SRT8's run about 13.5's... I'm going to guess the challenger will be about the same. Maybe 13.2's

And no 6 speed at launch is a major disappointment.

SRT-8 should have been 500hp to makeup for it's weight problems IMO.

Used C5 for $20-30k or $40k+ for a lead sled? I guess the looks will really have to grab you... Don't get me wrong; I love the car. But 425hp at 4000+lbs ...

Chrysler Poised To Cut Off Orders for 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8

Date posted: 12-11-2007

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Chrysler has confirmed for Inside Line that the order cutoff for the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 could come before the end of December.

"The order cutoff may happen sometime relatively soon," said Kathy Graham, Dodge Challenger public relations specialist, on Tuesday. "It could happen before the end of the year. That is something [executives] are talking about now — what to do when we reach the limit of the number of cars we will have in 2008."

Graham said as of Monday, Dodge dealers had taken more than 7,000 orders for the retro muscle car in just a single week; Dodge dealers began taking orders for the car on December 3. The automaker also reported that at least 85 percent of Chrysler dealers had taken an order for the Challenger SRT8 in the first week it was available. Graham describes that occurrence as "unusual this early in the order process." She also characterized the second week of ordering as moving into "a steady, normal order process."

"The people who really wanted it made the big rush in the first couple of days," Graham said.

She also noted that there was no magic cutoff number in terms of orders at this point. She would not say specifically how many Challengers Dodge intends to build in 2008. Last week, Chrysler told Inside Line that it has not yet decided how many Challengers it will build. "It will be less than 10,000," Graham said a week ago.

Dodge has priced the Challenger SRT8 at $37,995, including a $675 destination charge. However, real-world pricing is said to hover close to the $60,000 mark for some buyers. Dodge has said it cannot control what dealers will charge for the Challenger.

What this means to you: Your chance for getting your hands on a new Challenger may be running out if you don't act quickly. At least, that's the word from Dodge. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent

^^^Wow, $60k for a $40k car. Some people's lack of patience truly amazes me. A year from now, this car will see normal production numbers and no premium on the price (more than likely, it will see typical Dodge discounts). I doubt five years from now anyone will pay more for a used Challenger from '08 versus one from '09.

Bullshit! Dodge tells their dealers that if they even HEAR of a dealer charging more than MSRP for one that they'll make sure that dealer never gets a new limited edition model as long as that owner is running that stealership.

Fucking Dodge. Just throw your hands in the air, you fucking sleazebags.

Fucking bullshit.

Here's the new Dodge Challenger. Out in the snow, out in the open.

The SRT-8 below has an exposed carbon fiber stripe, HIDs, 20" wheels, big Brembos, 425hp and lots of kit.

And here's the upcoming 2009 R/T model which will feature the new 380hp HEMI, a six-speed manual and a sticker price of around $30k.
