"The Demon can hit 60 miles per hour in 2.3 seconds pulling 1.8 G’s, with a 9.65 quarter-mile drag time at 140 mph, and the 6.2-liter Hemi Demon V8 engine can pump out 770 lb-ft of torque with a higher rev limit of 6,500 rpm... The NHRA confirmed the drag time, and then banned the car from competition"

I'm sorry, but there's no fucking way the demon is putting down 840 hp and 770lbft of torque.
this bitch is waaaaaay under-rated from the factory. Yes, I understand that the suspension and tires have specifically been set up for drag racing, but for a car that runs on 100 octane, has a ton of cooling mods and a massive supercharger, there's no way it's only pushing 133hp more than a hellcat.
I bet this bitch is easily closer to 1000hp. Also consider the weight. She's not light. That requires a ton of power to move that fast.
a lot of hate on Jalopnik. It's all jealousy. No one will admit to it, but the butthurt over there is strong. I for one applaud dodge for having the cojones to build something like this and offer it with a full warranty. Fuck yeah.

Dodge better Recall it already and get a Roll cage installed or there are going to be a lot of people mad that they wont be allowed to bring it to the strip and run it.

There are rumors of a cage being an option. Not sure if true. Even if not, it would be nice if dodge made provisions for one, within the interior. I have a hard time believing that it's something they overlooked... Unless they never expected th car to be as fast as it is.
im starting to think it does put out 840hp... To the wheels, though, not at the crank

So with mark up.. 150k??
Might as well just get a hellcat and mod the shit out of it. Half the price.

"Dodge’s target demographic for the SRT Demon, which is presumably Hellcat owners with leftover money, will be relieved to learn that the straight-line monster will be priced 'well below' six-figures. That’s a bargain considering that the majority of production vehicles that can approach its quarter-mile time are priced using the phrase 'of a million dollars' as a reference point."

US prices for the maddest, baddest Dodge announced. And options for just one dollar
For the princely sum of $84,995, you can bag yourself a brand new, 808bhp Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. Yup, that Demon – the one that is the most unhinged production muscle car the world has seen.
That’s more than $20k over the already quite unhinged Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. But - ready your finest Trading Places impression – here’s the kicker. For just one dollar, you can option the ‘Demon Crate’ option, and because it’s only one dollar (though worth $6,410), you really want to.
Open said crate, and you get two narrow front wheels, a performance ECU with high-octane fuel calibration, a replacement instrument panel, a personalised ID badge, a performance air filter, two valve stems, and passenger mirror block off plates.
Then you get tools: a hydraulic floor jack, cordless impact wrench with charger, a torque wrench, tyre pressure gauge and a tool bag.
Apply these things to your shiny new Demon, and you’ll unlock the 6.2-litre supercharged HEMI V8’s full 840bhp and 770lb ft of torque, allowing you – where applicable of course – to replicate the Demon’s Guinness World Record certified ability to do a front-wheel-lift. Yup, it’s a muscle car that wheelies. Sort of.
There’s more bargain option goodness. The Demon only comes with a front driver’s seat, but if you want to bring a friend along for in-flight entertainment, their seat will only cost you… one dollar. Leather on the rear seat and a boot carpet? Both $1 options.
Amazing, right? Dodge admits that $85k is “a lot of money and a significant up-charge over a Challenger Hellcat,” but that the Demon bears not just performance, but features, and exclusivity too (it’s being built in limited numbers).
About that performance. Your $84,996 (because you want the full 840bhp, naturally) gives you a car capable of 0-30mph in one second, 0-60mph in 2.3secs, a quarter-mile time of 9.65secs at 140mph (as certified by the National Hot Rod Association), the ability to pull 1.8g, and of course, WHEELIES.
Production of the Demon begins this summer, with deliveries to SRT dealers later in the year.

Anyone know production numbers on these?
I wonder if demand will drive those $20K over MSRP like the GT350.
I wonder if it'll drive down the Hellcat pricing.
What a beast and I love the idea of the $1 upgrades from a Marketing perspective. Wow...
Kudos to Dodge for making themselves VERY relevant again.

I'm sure they'll hold their value.. just as long as you don't wreck it.

Yep.. Demon is hellacious, but the Durango SRT is also in it's own way.. and it's full versatility.
I'll wait til the buzz dies a little when it releases.. and the Ram Rebel.. holy balls, that might be the one too.
I'd rather have a 3rd row.. but if it's as nuts as they say it might be..

Yeah I've seen a number of Ram Rebels around here... I didn't think there was anything that special about them.
