Itz JDM y0!
Would take it over the current GT500... Not sure about the new GT350 which as an IRS, and would not take it over the Z/28.
If it were me I'd just buy a 2008-2010 Viper with 5-7k miles (like this:http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...nal&listType=1) for $60-70k and call it a day. I don't really get the point of the Hellcat when a Viper like that can be bought for the same price. I have nothing against Dodge either, they're one of my favorite domestic brands and make my future car (Viper).

also the hellcat competes more with the zl1.
The z28 is a balls out track car.

True. But the same can be said for any car. I prefer a little extra weight as opposed to being lighter and slightly faster. But thats just me.

I concur...this car is a little too heavy...its always been....maybe thats just the character of the car though
adding power is just a way to overcome for that heavy weight....
we see other lighter cars running the 11 second mark with less power just because they are lighter

Yeah compared to a Stingray maybe, but about the same weight as an M5. Little bit heavier than a ZL1 But the Challenger is a big car. 197 inches long. I'm sure a lot could be done to get the weight down some but what would you have to sacrifice?

It's nice to have options. I may have a tiny car now, but I definitely know the pleasure in cruising around with a big car with a ton of low end torque. It's very relaxing. Plus the Challenger is one of those rare coupes that can seat five comfortably and still have plenty of performance at a reasonable price.

It's just my opinion, but there is constant talk as to whether Chevrolet will make a Corvette ZR1. Since the ZO6/ZO7 already has a SuperCharger and is 650 HP and 650 lb/ft of torque, there was talk that there will be no need for a ZR1.
Now, with the Hellcat at 707 HP, I've got to think that there will NOW be a ZR1.

Looks like the pricing might have leaked...startin price for a hellcat may very well be $59.9K....which is VERY surprising considering the last years worth of pricing rumors. And VERY awesome all around.

Some tuning to squeeze some more power out in an update, maybe... the Z06 is still an entirely different vehicle. If I'm wrong though, I say the ZR1 will be a twin turbo V8
This clip says it all. 1,000 lbs is a hell of a lot of extra weight. Except the Z06 isn't very far behind in power.

As opposed to riding in a light car like an S2000, or my old Integra that feels like I'm driving a go kart on public streets, and can feel every bump on the road. But for everyday driving or when I used to commute 30 miles to work theres nothing like cruising in a large sedan with a lot of power.

60K is a very very competitive price tag....puts it right with the Mustang GT500 and the ZL1...
I just configured a GT500 and a fully loaded one came to about 66,500 (all packages minus the shaker audio)
Also configured a ZL1 and it came to 66,300 (fully loaded including the $6600 brake upgrade)....while there, I also configured the Z/28 and that was about 81,600 again with a $6600 brake upgrade....
so the 60K tag of the Hellcat seems like a great starting price...a well equiped one (as I would imagine) would be about 70-75K which will be perfect....

Here is the standard equipment for the Z/28
dont see anything about Carbon Ceramic...
and this is the brake upgrade package:
Steering, power, variable ratio, electric
Brakes, Brembo
Brakes, 4-wheel antilock, 4-wheel disc, ceramic
Exhaust, dual-mode, performance

Brakes, 4-wheel antilock, 4-wheel disc, ceramic
Exhaust, dual-mode, performance
and this is the brake upgrade package:
Brake System (Front Brembo Performance ZL1 Brakes)
These racing-style brake systems enhance braking performance under track operating conditions. Brake conversion kits offer greater resistance to warping and potentially longer rotor life, as well as reduced weight. - $4150

Costco, that's exactly what I've heard in the Corvette Community. The ZR1 could possibly have a twin-turbo V8.
But $59,900 for the Hellcat is incredible and amazing......how can they make any money on that?

SRT Hellcat VIN0001 To Be Auctioned For Charity
From here: http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1...-jackson-vegas
A one-off take on the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat for the very first example will cross the auction block for charity at the Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas event in September.
The car, bearing the identification plate VIN0001—the very first Hellcat off the line—will get a Viper-exclusive Stryker Red paint job, Hellcat badges, a special documentation package, and extra one-off memorabilia, says Chrysler.
The auction will be held at the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas September 27, on the last day of the Barrett-Jackson auction event that runs September 25-27.
Auction proceeds will go to benefit the Opportunity Village organization, which also operates in of Las Vegas, helping people with intellectual disabilities.
“The 2015 Challenger Hellcat is already guaranteed to be one of the hottest cars that will roll through the Barrett-Jackson auction lanes in decades to come,” said SRT and Dodge brand president and CEO Tim Kuniskis. “The VIN 0001 being auctioned this year is the ultimate one-of-one collectible 2015 Dodge Challenger, as Dodge is ensuring there will never be another one like it.”
Among the one-off memorabilia included with the VIN0001 is a special HEMI painted presentation box, an electronic vehicle build book and video documentary, still photos, and a Challenger SRT Hellcat Laguna Leather embossed iPad sleeve, a signed Hellcat lithograph, and a “birth certificate” for the VIN0001 car.

I think the American makers were forced to do this. Just look what the Japanese and Germans are offering. You have family sedans from Germany blowing the doors off Ferrari’s. We are in a horsepower war that’s making the previous on look like childs plays. Just a matter of time you see American muscle cars in the 1000 HP range. We are in un-chartered waters for sure.
The same reason why you see near 1000 HP cars from Ferrari, Porcshe and McLaren.
