Detroit auto show to air nationally on NBC
Detroit auto show to air nationally on NBC - - By Monica Link - - - Source: Automotive News / July 29
North American International Auto Show organizers have signed a five-year deal with NBC Sports to air a nationally-televised live two-hour show during the closing day of the Detroit auto show.
The first of five shows will air next year prior to the NFL Conference Final football game Jan. 23.
Details of the agreement were not released.
Allen Bestwick, Wally Dallenbach and Bennie Parsons anchors of NBC's NASCAR broadcast, will host the program. The program will feature concept vehicles and new products introduced at the show.
In June, the auto show partnered with the Detroit NBC affiliate WDIV-TV in a 2005 to 2007 deal to air several programs throughout the auto show including a two-hour charity preview show. The programs have the potential to reach 3.5 million viewers in the Detroit metropolitan area. MSN Autos recently renewed its contract with producers of the auto show through 2006. As a part of the deal, MSN will have streaming video of the show on its site and provide a link to the auto show's Web site.
