Dealers sign to sell Bricklin’s Chinese imports
Greenwich-based Miller Motorcars is planning to sell Chinese-made luxury cars next year alongside the Aston Martins, Ferraris and Rolls-Royces it sells now, according to the Connecticut Post. The cars — made by Chery Automobile of China and imported by Malcolm Bricklin’s Visionary Vehicles — will sell for about $20,000. Miller is the importer for the Fairfield County and Westchester County, N.Y., markets.
One model the dealers are looking at selling in Fairfield is the M14, a Chery with a hardtop retractable roof. The $20,000 roadster will compete with the $47,000 Mercedes SLK, according to Bricklin.
Malcolm Bricklin introduced America to Japan’s Subaru in 1965. Will Chinese cars catch on in America like Japanese cars did? Time will tell…

Pininfarina Takes Top Design Honors at Shanghai Show

SHANGHAI, China — China's first homemade coupe, the Chery M14, won the "Best New Car" award at the Shanghai motor show. The vehicle was developed by Chery Automobile in cooperation with Pininfarina, under a broader partnership agreement.
The Italian company participated in the design and engineering of the M14, including its innovative chassis. The model is powered by Chery's self-produced engines.
Andrea Pininfarina, CEO of Pininfarina, also announced that on the basis of the success of the M14 project, the companies are planning to jointly develop two new families of cars.
What this means to you: Chinese auto companies, lacking the depth of experience required to create design innovation, have gone to one of the deepest experience wells available. The results are cool, refreshing drafts.
