Daylight running lights in US?
I'd like to have daylight running lights. Is that a dealer-controlled setting here in the US? Or is it a bigger deal to activate it?

Maybe you could wire up the foglights to be on during the day? The candian spec TL's have the DRL's where the US spec models have the foglights.

The problem with the DRL's is that you don't get fog lights. Seems that every car I get doesn't come with fogs, just like the 2000 TL.

For the TL owners, do you think there is room in the front pumper to install an extra set of fog lights?

This topic was brought up a long time ago on the CL board, and it was decided that converting a non-DRL car to a DRL car would be huge, as big as converting a non navi to a navi. Its not worth it. You'd be better off just leaving your xenons on all the time like I do.

Because of the cold air intake in the driver's side bumper opening my understanding is that you cannot install fog lamps there. They would look cool though especially for us Canadians who don't get fog lights.

My understanding is Honda is actually pissed off that so many cars have them. Defeats the reason they were done on Honda motorcylces first.

As a Canadian driver, I love having DRL. Much safer driving on the roads than without. I drive a fair bit in the US and find it less safe because they do not have DRL.
Perhaps there are various reasons, but for me I love the fact that when I am turning onto a street, I can see a car coming because of the lights, they're great on a 2 lane 2 direction highway because you can see the cars coming from a good distance. Also I live in northern Canada where the sun is up almost 20 hours during the summer and when it gets to be fall it falls low on the horizon.. .this can be blinding but with DRL on vehicles, I can see them despite the brightness of the sun.
Just my 2cents..
Cheers

I lived in Denmark when daytime running lights were made obligatory there in the early 90s. The accident rate dropped enormously. Dublin, Ireland has just made it obligatory too. It'll be interesting to see what happens.
Arguably, these are northern regions with extended twilight hours as well as long winter nights. However, the bigger difference between most of northern Europe and most of the US is the seperation of pedestrians from automobiles. In most of the US you never see pedestrians, so pedestrian safety doesn't rate high on the statistical list of concerns.
