Dodge Fires A Warning Shot
American car makers don't always produce huge gas-guzzlers, as this stylish-looking two-seater proves.
Called the Dodge Sling Shot, it will be unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show in January and has a three-cylinder engine capable of returning 45mpg. Parent firm DaimlerChrysler is remaining tight-lipped about exact details, but it's believed that the all-new sports car uses the chassis of the Smart Roadster as a base.
And while we know the engine's output, Dodge has yet to say whether power comes from hybrid technology, diesel or an ultra-efficient petrol unit. However, the car can cover 0-60mph in 10 seconds.
The company showed a similar model, the Razor, two years ago. However, while that concept had a 2.4-litre turbo engine delivering 250bhp, the Sling Shot's develops only 90bhp. Meanwhile, work is underway to set up the Dodge brand in the UK.

This car has been referred to in the Automotive News section, but never had its own thread, plus I never saw its front before. So I thought to open a dedicated thread about it. It's interesting from a design perspective.

well, im inbetween.
it doesnt need the SRT4 engine, thats asking too much for a base model.
it does need to be fuel efficient. the smart car is a good starting point.
it does need to be faster than 10 seconds tho, unless its totally cheap, which i would imagine it is not.
a nice way to take care of this would be to hybridize it. it would be nice with a 150hp 4 pot and a 50-75hp electric motor. that would keep it fuel efficient and make it reasonably well powered. the back side of this car looks like it could house an electric motor or somethin.
thatd be kinda cool.
