There is an update in the MT Mag of September about the Blue Devil. They are saying that rumors that the chasis is that of a mid engined C7 based on the Cadillac Cien are not true. They say that development mules are using the C6's platform. The engine is the LS2 enlarged to 7 liters and now making 725HP (NA of course)! The target weight is under 3000 pounds and $100K is the target for the price.

No word on a green light for production. But if it gets the green light "it will be several years after the Z06 C6 is out". Which means 3 years from now or more. Damn!

Its too bad the xlr and corvette couldn't be the same as the g35 is to the z. Be nice to have the same performance capabilities in the caddy with 6-speed, x-tra luxury and style.

Here's the full Top Gear list, per their website. At least, for the cars they have tested. I would have really liked to see where the Enzo would end up on this list. I am thinking it would have been #1.

And oh yeah - in case you aren't familiar with the Top Gear series of reviews and particularly how they come up with the numbers you see above, have a look at the following link:

Happy downloading!

I got to admit, I am actually surprised by the SLR. I mean, looking at its price you expect something that fast, but its weight, the MB "softness" that comes with all MBs and 5 speed auto tranny suggests otherwise. Good job. I also think the Enzo would beat the Carrera GT, but only by a hair which would make the Carrera GT and others look good. So hence Ferrari wont let them do it. Ferrari is known for such limitations. They dont like to see mags test their cars and report numbers. They are anti-numbers at Ferrari.

I was VERY surprised by the SLR's performance. I mean sure, it has gobs of power, but I figured it would be typical of the high-hp MB's: crazy straight-line acceleration, mushy handling, auto = nothing spectacular at the roadcourse. Boy was I wrong. That thing HAULS all over the place.

and, "tru dat" about Ferrari...

Also, it's obvious that not all the numbers on the Top Gear list are the "best" numbers for the car. For instance, NSX Type R is only 2 tenths quicker than a 350Z? That's obviously not accurate. In the Best Motoring videos, the NSX Type-R runs with the supercars (Gallardo, GT3, Murcielago, 360, etc).

Top Gear tests work like this - they get a car to test. They test it on their test track, at the hands of "Stig", their notorious test driver, who is said to have been a pro driver in a "previous lifetime" - he is really good, from what I have seen - also consistent, given the track conditions are consistent. If its raining, they test it in the rain (as mentioned at the S2ki link) - so for the sketchy times, most likely there was some other factor coming into play there, that offset the times. Just FYI.

They may not note wet and dry on the list which is a big factor on time, but I think those are the best times considering how the stig has every car balls to the wall, wet or dry.

yes Stig drives balls to walls, but they are not the "best times" when he is driving a car in the wet... they are a few seconds slower than if it was dry.

Whenever they test in a wet track they put a "W" next to the time of the car. Some cars have it.

If by "they" you mean Top Gear, then I would have to guess, no. The reason? Because the Z06 never made it to Europe. It was never offered.

But even the GT review was still full of their anti-american BS... American cars can't properly handle, bla bla bla. It even came across in their garbage 350Z review about how it was designed for Americans. I have less and less respect for this show.

I expected nothing less from this review. The C6 is an amazing car for the $$ period.

I agree. Those guys are def. biased. However...I was disappointed about the fact that it uses leaf springs...WTF is that about? And the interior is a bit cheap looking too. I said that when i first saw it. I was hoping Lutz would've made it nicer.

I can care less about the suspension design as long as it performs brilliantly, which it does, and always did (Z06). The interior is lightyears ahead of the previous version. Yes, it probably still has some way to go, but for the $$, you can't complain.

Same thing with the Z. The interior is cheap, but it's functional and for the $$ of the car, you can't complain. If the same interior was in a 911, then I'd complain.

ahaha wow....really feel people have it out for the USA huh? lol... They didn't say anything that wasn't true and in the end they said it was a fun car that performance very well for the price. What more do you want???? Seems you want ass kissing for the sake of ass kissing. They are always VERY tough on cars and even ripped the NSX a new one. Toughen up.....

ehh i disagree on that one. the corvette has less of an excuse for a cheap interior. it's considerably more expensive than the z. in that price bracket i would expect a better interior...despite whats under the hood etc. the materials needed to dress up the interior would be a very minimal added expense...if i was spending that much on a vette i know i'd spend 500-1000 bucks more to get some better interior materials.

as for the leaf springs, i see your point but i remember when i saw those on my chevy tahoe for the first time... i cringed...looked like something that belonged on a horse drawn buggy not a car. its so low tech...wonder how much $ they saved doing it that way...

Sorry, but there is no way that a NSX can beat a well-driven C6 in an acceleration test like it did in this video. The C6 has 400hp/400 torque and has performance times of mid 12's in the 1/4.

Even the TVR model they tested runs high 12's / mid 13's in the 1/4, yet it smoked the C6.

Gavril, the GT3 and the CSL were driven in wet laps. As heyitsme said earlier, the topgear website doesnt list whether or not the laps were done in wet weather. I've seen the entire CSL episode and the M3 CSL has near slick tires on it and supposedly dont perform well in neither wet nor cold weather(it was both during the test run).
