Looks outstanding. I'm very impressed. The back doesn't look so bolbous which the C5 convert suffered from

So, is that rear window plastic or glass?

I am very impressed with the C6. I didn't like the C5 style at all, but the C6 looks very good to me. It is definitely the first Big Three model I've been impressed with enough to dream about owning.

SO nice! I know my next car once the lease on my Z is up. I've always loved the Vette, but the Z made more sense to me at the time, but the C6 is my new love.

New Vette gets stick as standard; automatic an option for 2005 - - - By DAVE GUILFORD | Automotive News - - Source: Autoweek

DETROIT -- Hard-core driving enthusiasts will love it.

But less-intense Corvette buyers may be annoyed to discover that Chevrolet has flip-flopped the transmission options on its iconic sports car.

When the sixth-generation Corvette goes on sale this summer, a manual transmission will be standard for the first time since 1980. An automatic will be an option.

In the 2005 Corvette ordering workbook given to dealers, GM says it expects 65 percent of Corvette buyers will choose the automatics - increasing the number of optional transmissions GM will sell.

Chevrolet has not revealed prices of the new Corvette. So it is unclear if Corvette buyers who want the automatic will pay more than they do now on the current model. The optional six-speed manual now costs $915 more than the standard automatic.

Production of the coupe will start in July, GM says, and convertible output will begin soon after that. Chevrolet spokesman Bob Tripolsky says GM made the change because most pricey sports cars offer manuals as standard equipment: "It's putting us more in line with where the market competitors are, especially Porsche."

Rick Daniel, Internet manager at Les Stanford Chevrolet in Dearborn, Mich., says the 200 customers who have ordered 2005 Corvettes aren't complaining: "Most of your diehard Corvette people are going to want a six-speed (manual) anyway. You're going to hear from the sports and speed enthusiasts first."

Yes, wait till you see it in person, but mostly wait till we see the first reviews and then wait till your first test-drive. I think the interest will rekindle.

The interior looks BETTER than the prototypes we saw at the auto shows! Great job.

Also, who are these people in and around the car. I wonder where those pics came from.

Finally, what a comparo that would have been ah? C6 vs C5 Z056 vs. CTSV

From the front, the C6 looks sooo much more mature of a sports car than the C5. Going with the fixed lights and the front open air intake, was the right decision.

Oh, I just figured out where I had seen Warren County plates. That's Bowling Green, Kentucky, home of the Corvette. The guy taking the pictures is Rich Howard, if anyone knows who that is.

Likes:
  • clean-looking interior
  • more compact-looking
  • as someone else said, the front view
  • Engine compartment looks gorgeous
Dislikes:
  • Like every Corvette I've seen going back to the mid 70s, the tail end looks like it has a huge fiberglass clip glued onto the back because of that unsightly (and usually bulging) seam immediately behind the rear cornering light
  • While I can appreciate the Corvette checkered flag, I think it's way too prominent on the steering wheel. Downsize it to about 1/3 of it's current size

You have to be kidding me. I just find the fact that you won't buy a car solely due to the design of the steering wheel absolutely ridiculious.

BTW, the steering wheel doesn't look bad in person. It's thick and looks to be the right size.

I care more about the 400hp/400tq, excellent interior design, nice exterior design and great price-performance ratio more than the steering wheel.
