Its a nice car but the front looks like its a smiling japanese designed car rather than a muscular hotrod. The dodge challenger doesn't have that prob because it has straight across lines like any old school muscle car. Think the new lancer front end design struck muscular better than this camaro also. Scary thing is, the new evo will be a muscle car, from Japan, probably close in price to the v8 camEro.
Camaro interior is concept, nothing to get excited over.

The hardtop Camaro will go on sale in 2009.
Dang, I have been ‘asleep at the wheel’ (good country swing band by the way)…this will be a hardtop!! Man everyone needs to drive a hardtop once…all windows down…no B-pillar….just have to be there….Will have to look at this …

I have little confidence the car will end up as you see it. They just keep showing us CGI's and photoshop concepts. Lets start to see some finished sheet metal and dash setups...
Show us something real/production ready...

The LS3 was introduced as the Corvette's new base engine for the 2008 model year. It produces 430 hp (321 kW) at 6000 rpm and 424 ft·lbf of torque (575 N·m) at 4400 rpm and is SAE certified. The block is an updated version of the LS2 casting featuring a larger-bore of 4.06 inches creating a displacement of 6.2 liters (376 cubic inches), or .2 liters larger than the LS2. It also features higher flowing cylinder heads derived from the LS7, a more aggressive camshaft, a revised valve train with offset intake rocker arms, a high-flow intake manifold, and high-flow fuel injectors from the LS7 engine.
That said, there has to be something that differentiates the SS from Z28s, so it may indeed be the LS7 - especially since the blown LS9 may be GM's flagship V8 by 2009, in the Z07. It will be exciting to see regardless!

This isnt the 80s... v8 of today actually offer decent gas mileage.
Hell look at the vette
Manual: 18 mpg / 28 mpg
Automatic: : 17 mpg / 27 mpg
Not bad IMO

Regardless, I saw Transformers last weekend and LOVED the new Camaro. Yes Saleen basically made a kit Camaro but it looked great.
My only beef is that these cars are HUGE. The new Mustang is enormous. It looks great but it's the size of a boat.

GM should do fine with the Camaro....It is a Hardtop, mustang not, it will have a great V-8, Mustang so-so....It will ride and handle better, Side/head air bags...there is a lot of pent up demand for a rear wheel, V-8 hardtop or coupe.....Audi is doing the same thing with the 5...coupe V-8....coupes and V-8s will be OK as they are not bought for family transpo.....Hardtops are just that much better...

As for the size, the Eclipse, Stang and Camaro look about the same size to me; what's the beef here?

lol
I love it how the Z06 is the only car with 500+ horsepower to not have the gas guzzler tax. Gen IV small blocks are amazing.
