Exactly...

Hell, actually, I'm not even sure why they're comparing the Genesis V6 vs. the Camaro V6. Pricing wise, it should be the Genesis I4 vs. the Camaro V6 and the Genesis V6 and Camaro SS.

Not to mention the other comparos between the Genesis V6 and the Mustang GT, which happens to be a competitor for the Camaro SS.

Did you even read the article?

The Camaro V6 and the Genesis V6 were within a few hundred dollars of each other. They were appropriately matched.

I think it's complete bullshit to run around screaming like a little girl at a Beatles concert because someone put a lot of horsepower in an average car.

The V6 Camaro can't keep up with the V6 Genesis and I'm supposed to fap myself raw over the SS? Whoop-dee-fucking doo.

The base should be the BEST in its class and the higher-end models should only improve on that. This is not the case with the Camaro, and it's not the case with the Challenger and certainly not with the Mustang and that POS 4.0 V6 that wheezes out 210hp.

You want to fawn over a car that weighs 400lbs more than a Genesis coupe for no apparent reason other than GM cut so many corners on this car that the square is a circle, be my guest.
And you're exactly the same about every VW/Audi product If you don't notice, I get excited about lots of new cars, period, regardless of make, regardless of reputation. If they make what I like (oh yeah, I happen to like V8s and RWD) then it'll probably grab my interest.

see post above.

see post above.

Cut corners? You haven't even driven one or seen one in person, have you?

Whoop de doo.... the Camaro still won. and yet you raise the flag.

You mentioned how the base should be best in class and the higher end model should only improve on that. The pretty much top-of-the-line Genesis coupe (3.8 V6 track package) only barely matched up with the mid-level Camaro

Like I said, compare with the Camaro SS which starts around $30,000 straight off of the Camaro website, and same goes for a Genesis coupe 3.8 Track

C&D must be racist because the Camaro won.

The comparison was between a base Camaro and a "Track Edition" Genesis. Sure the Genesis out performs the heavy Camaro, but barely at that. The price was appropriately matched, but the features weren't.

C&D has given plenty of credit to the Gen coupe. There is no need to get all but hurt because they are praising GM.

Another ridiculous C&D comparo with "gotta have it factor" . When I read those comparos, I automatically subtract out the "gotta have it factor". I personally like the looks of the Camaro better, but the Genesis is also a compelling deal. Hyundai has a hit here, and so does GM. I think both will sell. I'd certainly test drive either of them if I were in the market.

And guys, tone it down a notch, please, as Yumchah has said.

I agree, the Camaro SS is somewhat in a class of it's own and hard to keep a straight face while comparing to anything else. It's kind of a budget baller's M3 or S5 in my mind...an enviable place for GM to be for once

I'm white and my family came from England in 1862. How exactly is race relevant again?

I'm not hurt. They are supposed to be objective. That's why they have sidebars in the articles.

It isn't. I meant to put "I suppose" at the beginning of the sentence. It was a sarcastic comment not directed at you.

CNN is supposed to be objective.

How can driver comfort, steering feel, or interior styling possibly be objective? Aside from enthusiasts, people don't buy cars based on performance numbers. In that sense the test seems pretty objective to me. If you want a cheap performer, buy the Gen coupe. If you want a looker that has decent performance, buy the Camaro. That's what I took from the comparo.

2010 Camaro recalled

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21543

A while back a member took delivery of her SS and all of a sudden it just shut off in the parking lot... had to get it towed to the dealership. The positive battery cable was routed in such a way that it shorted out on the starter which shut down the car.

It affects some V8 models and no V6 models, so far only 1 case has been reported. Glad to see GM is recalling it on the spot even though its only one car, instead of waiting it out until later. Definitely a big difference from the past.

The adage is true, don't buy a first model year car.... at least not til all the kinks are worked out.

Am I being unreasonable?

I'm holding a domestic to the same standard I'd hold any other car company to ... If Audi built cars like Chevy, I promise you I wouldn't give them the time of day.

And for the record, I've owned:

1989 Buick Skylark Quad 4
1993 Chevy Beretta GTZ
1998 Ford Escort ZX2
2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT

So it's not like I've bought imports my entire life and just piss on domestics like you say I do.

The GTZ as a car wasn't that bad but the engine was horrible. The Skylark was a complete piece of shit and burned to the ground at 52k miles. The ZX2 I had for 100k miles and liked it a lot. The Grand Prix was a huge disaster and dropped in value by 70% in two years.

Damn edit rules ...

Since the Grand Prix I have had a 2004 Mazda 3, a 2007 Mazdaspeed3, and now my Audi.

That 2004 Mazda 3S, which cost less in 2004 than the Grand Prix did in 2002, was a far better car in every way than the Pontiac including when I sold it to buy the Mazdaspeed.

Now, admittedly, GM to some extent has seen the light and is starting to take some things more seriously but they have a long way to go. And every time they do something like what they're doing with the Camaro, I'm going to call BS on them.

If that makes me "anti-domestic just because they're domestic" then there's not much I can do to change your mind.

I'd sport an SS 6mt. GM really should have put navi in this also with the G8. Maybe I'll snatch one up at the end of the year. I can't do a 370Z since I gotta put my Siberian Husky somewhere and him riding co-pilot may not be too fun. This could be the choice.

G8 GXP with no navi or HIDs and a disappearing brand makes me sad as well. 4 doors fits the choice. A far stretch would be a CTS-V since Bob's has me drooling.

Yet, all of us here know full well Audi isn't really known for its overall reliability record.

They do however make some great cars...oh, wow, some of the cars the domestics put are really good, too. Imagine that.

Was the Gran Prix a disaster because it was problem riddled (because the usually has a pretty solid record) or because you are bitter it didn't hold its value?

Just today I saw you do it again in another thread. You bash domestic for no other reason than they are domestics.

Do you even read papers or watch the news? Its not because they suck and don't sell any. While ill give you yes some of the management decisions were bad and the negotiations/contracts with the union were horrible they weren't loosing money because the cars we weren't selling.

If it wasnt for not being able to sell cars, then what is it?

For example, Chrysler's management wrong decision was the main reason they failed. They produced cars with lack of public appeal, combined with lack of quality of materials, low-reliability, and dysfunctional relationships between headquarters and local dealerships.

http://www.businessweek.com/lifestyl...055_922626.htm

For Pontiac, Do I need to mention to you guys, the AZTEC? Probably the worst automobile production design ever! I dont know what American designers were thinking.

Once again, several reason as to why Pontiac failed was, use of cheap materials, poor reliability, and FUGLY designs.

http://www.carthrottle.com/derailed-...ontiac-failed/

These companies did not survive because they coudnt sell enough cars for net revenue to cover costs, they coudn't compete against Korean/Japanese cars. If they sold so many cars, and were providing net profit to the company, GM would never cut off Pontiac, and Chrysler would not file Chapter 7...

I'm just glad you're not posting that the Camaro copied any design cues from a Hyundai.

With that said, you can stop now. Thanks.
