CCG: customGT news

Press release...

"What turned the customGT into reality was our passion, enthusiasm, dedication, and the steadfast belief in achieving the goal."

With these words, Tom Gerards, Head of CCG automotive GmbH and creative director of customGT outlined the long development time and the persistent advocacy of German TÜV officials. He continues: "The idea to build my own super sports car and bring it onto German streets with the TÜV's blessing started in early 2009".

The basis for this ambitious project is a powder-coated tubular space frame that is made in the USA and re-engineered (homologated) and fine-tuned here in Germany. The outer skin is made from either fibreglass- or carbon fibre-reinforced composites, and toned by specialists in the U.S. CCG makes adjustments to the car's body and optimizes it for the increased demands. The result is a pleasingly low vehicle weight, which, depending on the equipment, weighs in at only 960 kg and 1,040 kg. As
comparison: The ultra-sporty Ferrari 430 Scuderia puts at least some 1,250 kg onto the scale.

The engine is an optimised V8 by General Motors, which has its origin in the Corvette, one of the best recognised U.S. car icons. Thanks to its fine-tuning, the 7-litre engine produces up to 550 hp/405 kW and screams its joie de vivre out of exhaust pipes that are as thick as a man's arm. The engine's power reaches the rear wheels via a manually-operated 6-gear transmission, which was enhanced for use in the customGT. Coilovers were specifically designed and attuned on the 7-post test rig provided by KW suspensions. They ensure to keep the car securely on the pavement and provide the necessary grip in corners and on the racetrack. Countless kilometres of testing on the Nürburgring Nordschleife and Hockenheim bring the extensive development work to a full circle.

The perfect look and feel dominate the car's interior. A mixture of Alcantara and black leather as well as instruments "borrowed" from the racing sport give the interior the look of a sophisticated command center. Besides the outer appearance, the entire interior and the engine can be tailored to the needs of the clientele. Many important and vital components of this vehicle come from German companies and thus, besides the actual production of the vehicle in Germany, it also bears the quality seal "Made in Germany".

But that's not enough: Upon request, CCG equips the two-seater with an LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) system and converts the vehicle into a racy 300 km/h, ultra-lightweight eco-super sports car. "The engine's concept is tailored specifically for LPG use. LPG is a fuel that reduces exhaust emissions to a minimum and its availability is already widespread in many petrol stations. What's more, it is "light on your wallet". The average fuel consumption of the customGT lies by 15 - 20 litres of
gas per 100 kilometres. This is equivalent to 50 cents per litre of gas; just €7,50 to €10,00 for 100 kilometres", said Tom Gerards, Head of the CCG automotive GmbH

In addition, another model, called "competition", is planned for spring 2012. Says Tom Gerards: "When converting the customGT model "competition", we will forgo all luxuries and reduce the weight even more. Weighing in at just below 1,000 kg and by installing additional motor sports components such as sports chassis provided by KW suspension, MOV'IT brakes with racing pads and a special engine mapping, we will optimise the "competition" targeted for use in motor sports".
