Cadillac: SLS news **Introduced in China (page 1)**
GM China has just introduced the Cadillac SLS, which is basically an STS stretched out 4" with a revamped interior. I would imagine this is a good indication of what we will see on the 08 makeover.
Cadillac is not fooling around.

Cadillac showcases new SLS at Auto China 2006
GM's luxury brand, Cadillac has enjoyed remarkable success since its introduction to the China luxury market in 2004. The Cadillac China portfolio, consisting of the CTS sedan, the XLR roadster and the SRX crossover, will now be complimented with the all-new SLS and the Escalade SUV. Based on the STS sport sedan, the SLS has been lengthened by 100mm to add rear seat legroom. The interior is designed to meet specific local needs in this primarily chauffeur-driven luxury segment. Three engine options will be available which include the 2.8L V6, a 3.6L V6 and the top-level Northstar 4.6L V8 with 239kW/320hp. The new SLS will be built at the Shanghai GM plant for the Chinese market.
"The Cadillac SLS is a very important addition to our line-up in China as it meets very specific market needs," said Jim Taylor, general manager of Cadillac. "Cadillac reacts to country specific requirements and is proud to offer the SLS to Chinese luxury customers who demand extra space in the rear and other features." Earlier this year, Cadillac introduced the new BLS sedan in Europe and other international markets to satisfy the need for a smaller Cadillac model and a turbodiesel engine option.
"The Cadillac SLS is a strategic addition for the Cadillac brand in China, which will enable Cadillac to strengthen its presence in the luxury sedan market," said Mr. Ding Lei, president of Shanghai GM.
"The new Cadillac SLS and Escalade as well as the new offering from Wuling will strengthen our position as the market leader in China. GM's multi-brand approach in China enables us to successfully compete in all important segments of the fastest growing market in the world. I am looking forward to finishing 2006 as another year of record growth for GM in China," said Kevin Wale, president and managing director of the GM China Group.

That is a stunning interior. The entire console is a huge improvement, and touches such like the leather lined dash is first class; and rare in this class. I think our STS should definitely get the 4 inch strech, and the new dash; and at the very least, the full length console with seating for four as an option. This car is beautifully done.

Interior is sweet, exterior is...I don't like the new GM front ends. I think they need more lights. The Silverado looks decent, I think it may be the too-tall light that really looks wrong to me.

While not the new LS interior, this interior is a major improvement. It looks like they even used real wood! I wonder if they did bring this over to the US, if it would have the split back seat. There isnt a large market for chauffeur driven cars here.

Quite an improvement. It's getting better...but not quite there yet.
The exterior is decent...but not class leading in terms of design.
The interior is a big improvement...but still lacks the little details...the gauges & instrumentation look cheap (they could be from any other GM product if you didn't know you were looking at a Caddy). The button designs & layout for the climate control & sound system dont' quite look like they are up to lux standards...maybe I'm too picky, but the gaps between the buttons look too big.
The dash material and stitching is excellent...and the wood looks very nice.
The seats look very well done.

Some of you people have to get your head examined.......
The Caddy's interior looks as good if not better than most here. Granted the Caddy isn't perfect, but neither is anything else pictured.

^ the Lexus and MB's interior is quite a bit more refined in my opinion. Not that the caddy is horrible like some of their previous models, but it just needs some work on the switch gear and gauges.

its in the little details like the guages, and the suede headliner. Also- while the wood in the caddy looks nice, the wood in the other cars has a much nicer gloss and all of the grain matches.

Without sitting in the new LS yest or the Caddy SLS. I still prefer the look of the Caddy interior but have no doubt that the LS will be more polished.
Just too bad the LS's exterior is about as generic as you can get.

actually the other 3 interiors look kinda boring compared to the Caddy's - which looks fresh. it is just too bad about the fonts on the gauges, that KILLS me!!! I mean they have been using this same font since the 80's!! possibly 70's!!!! WTF?????

Personally i dont see anything wrong with that.
I mean BMW has been using red lighting since the 80s as well.

fool... red lighting works fine in BMW's, this has more to do with style.

There are a lot of people who hate the red lights on the dash that BMW uses.
The font cadillac uses works also. It gets the job done.

instead of font, maybe fully round gauges would've been more appropriate?
