Ok. I'd like to point out that GM can put a six-speed auto in a 400hp concept but can only muster a 4-speed auto for the initial C6 release.

Hmm ... GM still = teh suck.

6 speed auto is supposedly going to come to the C6 Vette in the not too distant future (probably the second year). It isn't ready yet for full release from what I heard. This is a concept car, not a car driven on the street/track every day.

BTW, the 4 speed auto used in the Vette is very sturdy unlike some other auto's we all know, and with the torque the LS2 makes, it doesn't really need 5 or 6 gears, but it's still something I'd like to see.

No doubt about it.

Whoa! That thing is beautiful - much better looking than the Cadillac xlr roadster. That looks like a nearly production-ready concept car too.

Yeah, I luv this thing. I think it looks beter than the XLR too, and the best thing is, it really wouldn't step on the XLR's toes IMO. It'd probably would be price $30k less, and seat four, and the XLR seats too. Plus, this is a ragtop where the XLR is a hardtop, and it doesn't share the same platform or engine (which is actually a good thing). They need to build this and drop that God awfull minivan thing with the ugly SUV wannabe nose.

this is a very good looking car but dont hate on the XLR, that car is very very sweet, i just saw my first one on the road yesterday. its a bit smaller than i had imagined.

but titan said it, this would be a good car for Buick and GM but price is key, no one will pay over 55k for a Buick.

Well, I feel where you're coming from... that's EXACTLY how I felt about the Solstice. But looks what's happening with that, and therefore, I'm hopeful. This car rides on GM's global zeta platorm, which is the succesor of the same platform of an Opel, Holden, current GTO, and failed Cadillac Catera; so we know this is a ready, production platorm. It's engine (minus the twin turbos), is the excellent 3.6 V6 found in the CTS/STS/SRX. I'd like to see a hardtop for it, though. If VW can put a hardtop on its new $20k somthing new sports car, then Buick should be able to pull if off for this car. As far as styling, this should be the direction moves in, atleast in my humble opinion. I think this car has true production possiblities, and would be a great Halo car to the line.

^^^ "Ahem"... trying not to get to choked up. That car is just what Buick needs (in sedan form too), IMO.

GM is getting more and more of a smaller company. As it should, if it is to survive financially. What they are trying to do is fix what sells right now and for the next 5 years. Then if numbers improve, they will invest in cars that help image and/or cars that enthusiasts love.

I agree with most of that. When you say fix what says right now and over the next five years, I assume you mean the GMT 900s (tell me if I"m wrong), which could easily be GM's saving grace. However, I'll argue that not only is a sedan and coupe/vert RWD Velite, but it would also sell well. Not unlike a RWD Grand Prix, and a Camaro. I think the 300, Magnum, and Mustang sales are a testemant to that. I don't think that creating such RWD cars would be all that risky, if done properly. Truly, if anything, GM would just find itself playing catchup again. This time to both Chrysler (300, etc.), and Ford (Mustang).

No that's not what I meant. That was a secondary part but not the whole thing. GM is trying to fix cars like the next generation Malibu, the next generation Chevy cars and mid size and compact trucks/SUVs that sell in large numbers. THe Silverado needs attention, etc. Whatever sells, or could sell in large numbers, is GM's priority.
