Smart move. I read that GM might keep Opel's suspension settings in place, and market it as a sports sedan. Though the Regal rides on the Same platform as the new Lacrosse, it is 6.7 inches shorter and rides on a wheel base 3.9 inches shorter, so thankfully, they're acutally different cars. Apparently an entry level Buick is approved also; it'll use the same next gen Delta platform that the Chevy Cruze will use. What sucks is that for the time being, the LWB RWD Buick Zeta that was to replace the Lucerne is dead in the water. In other news Cadillac WILL get an S-Class/7-Series RWD competitor. The next gen Sigma that underpins the CTS can be widened and stretched to accommodate such a car. That, along with the new entry level Caddy will help flesh out it's lineup nicely.

IMO, these pics of the CXL are fantastic. The few of the white car with the larger 19" wheels are of a CXS. I think the interior looks great also. Notice the rear win shield shade behind the rear seat headrests that's raised... love it.

http://www.leftlanenews.com/buick-re...-show-car.html

Ahead of the 2010 North American International Auto Show (Detroit Auto Show), Buick has released full specifications and extensive images of a “hot” variant for its new Regal sedan: the Regal GS. Buick’s new Regal sedan is based heavily on the European Opel Insignia, and Buick has now released information about its special Regal GS show car based heavily on the performance variant of the Opel known as the Insignia OPC.

Leftlane reported late last year that there was a possibility of a high-performance Buick Regal coming for U.S. consumption, and now it appears that Buick is very close to making that a reality.

Buick announced that the buick Regal GS show car features a 255 horsepower, 295 pound-feet of torque, direct-injected, turbocharged 2.0-liter Ecotec engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission that distributes its power to all four wheels through an adaptive all-wheel-drive system. If that wasn’t enough, the GS also features an electronic limited-slip rear differential, a lowered suspension, 20-inch forged aluminum wheels, performance tires, massive Brembo brakes, sport steering wheel and pedals and Recaro racing-style seats.

“We designed the Regal GS to explore the appeal of a high-performance variant of the Regal,” said Craig Bierley, product marketing director for Buick. “Like the Regal, the Regal GS is based on the award-winning Opel Insignia, and we believe it will reinvigorate Buick’s storied Gran Sport legacy.”

Inside, the Regal GS varies from the standard Regal by featuring a completely jet black interior extending all the way up the pillars and into the headliner. There is also a sport shifter for the six-speed manual transmission and a suede-covered, flat-bottom steering wheel like those used in international racing series. The instrument panel displays in ice blue whenever the driver engages the sport mode of the Interactive Drive Control System (IDCS)

“The idea behind the Regal GS was taking the production model in a more aggressive direction to appeal to performance enthusiasts,” said John Cafaro, Buick design director. “But along with its aggressive stance, there’s sophisticated style in the design that complements the driving experience.”

The Buick Regal GS is expected to accelerate from zero-to-60 in under six seconds.

Nice. Looks pretty good too.

wow, do want. It looks like its competing with the Subaru Legacy but most likely will have a higher price, but I see Buick as even offering such a car a step in the right direction. They found a design that works now they are injecting some sportiness into the car.

Wow. I can't remember the last time I thought a Buick looked attractive. Actually, I never did, this is the first one (well, not counting the regular new Regal).

Wait....what? A Buick with an MT? And good looking to boot?

Top Gear had a review of the Vauxhall VXR version of this. It was pretty funny.

....

I thought the Lacrosse was shaping up to be a decent car, but this one the other hand....! Finally, something for the Evo/STi crowd that's outgrown those cars? that thing looks slick, inside and out.

just watched the review... yup those are Recaros. I like how the harness slots and the trim on the steering wheel match the inlets on the front bumper. A small touch but it looks like GM is starting to notice the little things that matter.

I hope we get the turbocharged 2.8 V6.

For mileage reasons the 2.2 turbo 4 announced will probably be it.

I just hope Buick can get folks into the showroom to see this car.

i think it's remarkable that people are saying that now. 3 years ago, i wouldn't have considered buying a buick, pontiac, hyundai, kia, ford, etc.
