^ (sigh). I they're going to take the 5.3L V8 out of the Impala SS, and transplant it here. The "updated interior" should be standard for every model. I thought this car was to be introduced later this year, not in a "few years."

Buick always does this thing, they add nice chrome rimms and things that would normally be nice touches and ignore everything they are putting that on top of.

About this time next year, Buick will roll out a more powerful LaCrosse dubbed Super. The four-door, front-drive midsize sedan will be powered by the same 5.3-liter, 303-hp V8 found in the Chevrolet Impala SS. The Super features a bolder version of the signature Buick grille and a larger, chrome-trimmed rear bumper along with a more luxurious interior. Other upgrades include standard 18-inch alloy wheels, four-wheel ventilated disc brakes and MagneRide suspension. GM says 0 to 60 mph will be less than 6.0 seconds.

^ Agreed. There's nothing wrong with the car at all, per se. But it's a rental darling, and a stop gap built on the old W-body until a proper ES competitor debuts with the next gen car. I think the exterior will certainly look better, with a Velite-inspired grill, etc. The addition of the V8 is cool; it's a good way to keep interest up untill the next car comes.

GM has released a teaser image for the 2010 Buick LaCrosse that will make its official debut at the 2008 LA Auto Show this November. According to GM’s Bob Lutz, the 2010 LaCrosse will take major design cues from the Buick Invicta concept that was shown at Auto China 2008.
The Buick Invicta Concept is powered by a direct-injection 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 250-hp and 220 lb-ft of torque.

This is a promising teaser. I think that the black plastic grill we saw in the naked spy shot earlier this year wasn't for production. The interior is sure to be on point. I just hope the exterior can live up to expectations.

^Hopefully! maybe it was just to throw everyone off. I usually don't like a bunch of chrome on the grill, but the Invicta pulled it off really well. And hopefully they offer packages with 18s or 19s.... doubtful but they should have something like that for an option.

General Motors’ Buick brand is in need of a freshening, which will come in the form of the next-generation LaCrossee. Although the next-gen LaCrosse has been put on hold for a few months, new details have surfaced on the near-luxury sedan, which should give us a pretty good idea of what to expect from the LaCrosse — whenever it finally takes the show stage.
According to GM Inside News, the 2010 Buick LaCrosse will be offered with two powerplants – a base 3.0L V6 and an up-level 3.6L V6.
The LaCrosse’s base motor is all-new for GM, but won’t be skimping on high-level features. The new powerplant will feature direct-injection, which will aid in both performance and fuel economy. Expect the 3.0L to produce 250 horsepower but still return about 30 mpg on the highway.
The LaCrosse’s step-up motor will be a version of the Cadillac CTS’s 3.6L V6. It too will feature direct-injection, but will be slightly detuned from CTS-guise, putting out a still healthy 290 hp. Both powerplants will be mated to GM’s 6T70 six-speed automatic transmission.
The LaCrosse is also set to feature a plethora of luxury content, such as HID headlamps, a rear-view camera and a heads-up display. All-wheel drive is also said to be part of the mix, but no word if the LaCrosse’s AWD option will be reserved for 3.6L cars.

That 3.0L V6 Direct Injected Engine sound great
. GM needs another V8 powered car about as bad as Acura needs another SUV in it's lineup

Anyway, back to what's important... the volume seller of the Buick brand the financial anchor and reason the brand still has a business case in the NA market... This car has to be on target is every arena, and outshine the ES350 to be successful. These first few hints of what to expect are extremely encouraging.

It's going to take a lot to do that. As much as I hate the ES for what it is (a rebadged Camry), you can't deny how much that car coddles you.
Every year I step into one at the auto show, and despite being at the lower end of the Lexus lineup, you simply don't feel like you're in the base car. There's real wood and rich leather and good quality plastics.
With Acuras, you definitely can feel it. The TSX does not feel like an RL redux. The ES feels like the LS on a smaller scale.
And back to the Buick...Gm hasn't really impressed to the level of Lexus for a long time. Let alone target its entry level sedan and actually get it right or better it, it's going to take a lot. Edmunds has a write up on the Buick Lucerne, and while they liked it, the chrome and faux wood produced glare to the driver. In a way they overdid it, and not with the right materials either. Even the faux wood don't match.

I agree. GM's promise that Buick will be a brand to rival Lexus (similar to how they promised Caddy would rival the Germans) hasn't panned out. The Enclave is the best effort to date, though the lack of things like genuine wood in it's interior is still puts it to a disadvantage. My argument isn't that Buick is already on par with Lexus, but that if this next Lacrosse (whose name should have been Invicta, IMO) doesn't help get them much closer to Lexus in a big way the Buick name may not survive in it's birth country for the long haul. Of course, in China, it's not going anywhere...
