Update
MT is reporting that the Z4M will carry the current M3's engine with a 6 speed manual or SMG trannies. It will be shown during the Frankfurt auto show this September, per the mag.
This coincides with the Z4's facelift and the addition of the 3.0 255HP engine on the Z4 (the 2.5 liter six will remain as the base engine).

yay, the 255 HP 3.0 WILL make it to the Z4. Even with that power, the Z4 3.0 should be pretty peppy. any word of when this is update is going to take effect? Will MSRP go up? My uncle has been talking about getting a ~$50k sports car. He likes the C6's speed, but I think a 333 HP Z4 would be able to keep up with a C6, no?

As for your last question, I am guessing the Z4M will be slightly slower than the C6 Z51.

Certainly it won't be a 'Vette, but I'm sure it'l be a really really fun car.

As for the price, I am guessing starting at the very high $40Ks or low $50s like the current M3.

BMW-Z4 Coupe News **Unveiled - Official Pics, Specs and Info (page 1)**
BMW planning to produce Z4 coupe; concept version to be shown at Frankfurt show - - AUTOMOTIVE NEWS EUROPE - - Source: AUtoweek
MUNICH, Germany -- BMW AG plans a coupe version of its Z4 roadster, according to company sources.
Like its predecessor, the Z3 coupe, the new coupe will be built at BMW's plant in Spartanburg, S.C., where the roadster is produced.
The decision to build the coupe is surprising. The previous model was not considered a success. During a five-year production run that ended in 2002, BMW sold fewer than 18,000 Z3 coupes.
The Z4 coupe is expected to go on sale next summer. BMW will show a concept version of the car at next month's Frankfurt auto show.
BMW says the car will compete with the Porsche 911 and Cayman coupe, which goes on sale in January.
The Z4 coupe will be powered by BMW's 260-hp, 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine. An M performance version also is planned with a 3.2-liter inline six-cylinder engine from the M3, upgraded to 360 hp from 343 hp.
A BMW source says the Z4 coupe will look sleeker than its predecessor. It also will have a roomier trunk.

M's the word for BMW's ultimate roadster - - Source: Autoexpress
Here's another machine with M power - BMW's new M Roadster. An eagle-eyed reader snapped these two Z4 development cars parked at the side of a German road as the drivers took a break during testing. Set to sit at the very top of the range, the high-performance convertible is likely to be powered by the 335bhp 3.2-litre straight-six from the M3 coupé.
With a wider rear track, stiffer suspension and bigger brakes, the M Roadster will be a real enthusiast's car when it goes on sale in two years' time. It's set to be joined by a hard-top version, which will share the same engine and be targeted at Porsche's recently revealed Cayman. But before then, a facelifted Z4 range will appear, featuring new front and rear bumpers, revamped light clusters and an iDrive-style cabin control system. The wraps are expected to come off the revised car at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month.
