Ugly Butt + iDrive = Lousy sales. The 5 doesn't look much better from the spy shots so far.

I need to get my eyes checked. I don't see a difference on the rear shot. . .

the rear difference is very subtle. The truck lid blends in a little more.

This car shows what an OUTSTANDING job MERCEDES did on the S-class, 5 years and going strong, the best looking big sedan ever.

BMW 7-Series News **'06 Official Facelift Pics and Specs (page 4)**

BMW is gearing up for a rather extensive facelift on the controversial 7-Series, and we expect the freshened BMW to be at dealerships by next summer at the latest.

The exterior of BMW's flagship will now be reshaped into a softer, less controversial look: the most visible changes will be the all-new headlights and the wider and more curved twin-kidney grille. Revised bumpers front and rear will round the facelift.

Under the hood, we expect the 4.4-liter engine to be tweaked to 4.8 liters, reaching an output of nearly 400 horsepower.

BMW hopes that these changes, as well as others, will breath new life into their controversial flagship.

400HP will be very usefull for this car. Nice if true. I am also wondering if that 4.8 liter will be the same as in the 4.8iS X5 car. That engine in that car is expected to be around 360HP.

source: BMW USA

For 2004, the 7 Series continues in three models for the U.S. market: the 745i at $69,195 including destination charge; the long-wheelbase 745Li at $73,195; and the $116,495 760Li, first introduced in ’03 as an ultimate expression of the 7 Series concept. The two 745 models are powered by an advanced 4.4-liter, 325-hp V-8 engine; the 760Li has a mighty 6.0-liter V-12 under its hood, generating 438 hp.

Changes for 2004:
New standard equipment and options, meaningful evolution of technology
For the new model year, the 7 Series evolves in subtle ways, adding new standard equipment, offering new options, and improving functional aspects of its groundbreaking technology.
• The revolutionary iDrive control system evolves:
• A new Menu button, located behind the system controller between the front seats, makes it easier to select the main menu.
• An additional new button is programmable by the user for preferred functions.
• Simplified setting of radio presets.
• Faster navigation guidance functions.
• Easier phone dialing in the Communication menu.
• New capabilities are added to the already comprehensive automatic climate control:
• A humidity control keeps interior humidity closer to the ideal level.
• Via a misting sensor, the system detects windshield misting and activates to clear it up.
• The 745i and 745Li have a new standard wheel design.
• Adaptive Headlights becomes available as a new option for its standard Xenon headlights. With this feature activated, as soon as the vehicle is moving forward, the headlights steer with the front wheels, guided by an electronic control system and small servo motors. The system responds not merely to the steering angle, but also to vehicle speed and the “yaw rate,” or the rate at which the vehicle’s direction is changing. As a result, the driver’s night vision around corners and curves is enhanced.
• The power/heated exterior mirrors add a power-fold function, with which the driver can fold the mirrors inward at the touch of a switch. This can be useful for parking in very narrow spaces or for going through a car wash.
• SIRIUS Satellite Radio will become available during the ’04 model year. SIRIUS delivers 100 streams of the best in digital entertainment coast-to-coast; including 60 streams of 100% commercial-free music in all virtually every genre, plus 40 streams of world-class sports, news, talk and entertainment. SIRIUS streams are optimized for superior sound resolution and beamed by three powerful satellites to SIRIUS-equipped vehicles everywhere in the continental United States. Customer activation is necessary and a monthly fee applies.

So although BMW declined rumors about a 7 series refresh/facelift for next year, the rumors are no back in. Here is a possibility:

I was at the dealer sealing up the paperwork on the M3 and they put the 760 thats been in stock for awhile in the showroom.

Was playing around inside it for awhile, the interior is just insane.....puts a new meaning in "detail."

Looks wise, the shorter wheelbase 745 Sport in front of it looked better (still not gorgeous though, needs the facelift).
