I could live with an SMG. Actually, that's an understatement: I'd get an SMG over a MT in a heartbeat.

I'll modulate my own clutch, thankyouverymuch...

Seven speeds is kinda sweet, though...

smg/sportshift/yaddayadda. They all remind me of my Suzuki 100cc moped that I had years and years ago. Clutchless sequential shifting. woop-bloody-doo. Granted, it didn't have 500 horses, but it was b-o-r-i-n-g and made me appreciate the joys of a real clutch.

I'm sure smg is great for racing, but aren't bmw's about driving *fun*?

Peak torque is mostly directly related to displacement and not number of cylinders. Hence the small gain. The previous engine was almost as large.

Great photos Beltfed. Could not give you kudos there (reputation), what happened, did you reach the peak kudo spot?

Looking at these photos I am thinking: "The exterior design of this car does no justice to the amazing hardware hidden underneath. What a waste!"

The exterior, particularly in this color, makes the M look a lot better than the standard 5-Series. Interior is still unattractive.

i think if the center stack was a little less vertical (i.e. more sloping into the middle console, ala tsx) it would do A LOT!

If you like a manual and think you can live with the SMG, think again. You better never put it in auto mode. It's harsh. It hits unusually hard into gears.

I can deal with the exterior, but that interior really sucks. The way they only have 3 controls on the center console looks really cheap. If they pulled the radio functions out of the i-drive and installed a kick ass HU with a fancy display under the air vents it would probably work wonders for the dash.

Well I wouldn't go that far, the previous M was perfect inside.

At the same time, BMW announced that the new 500bhp V10-powered M5 will be priced around £62,500 when it goes on sale next April.

BMW interiors are starting to remind me of some of the Infiniti interiors; modern & ugly. Acura, on the other hand, elegant & beautiful.

I simply cannot believe what they have done to this car. That means bad. As in I don't like. Except the V-10 part.

Regardless of what's under the hood any future M5 owner still has to live with the Bangle Butt.

The old interior of the M5 was functional, but certainly not beautiful. It had a German efficiency about it (the look anyway). The mass of buttons on the dash was too much though.

This new interior is total :shit:. It's ugly, angular, and wholly unattractive. Talk about fucking it up big time.

I'd rather have 50 buttons on the dash than a joystick on the console.

I agree...since when was it ergonomic and convenient to put 400 features into one controller?! :sqnteek:

Unfortunately just about every car above $40K is going in this direction.
