BMW: 5-Series News

In another thread here about this car, I posted that the latest info calls for the 5 series to have toned down its exciting design we saw in the first photos and scetches. And I think it is obvbious by this, nearly finished, car.

Autospies say:

"This more conservative 5, is the result of the mixed reactions of the current 7-series design. BMW couldn’t afford to screw this one up as it’s one of their “bread and butter” vehicles. You can see from the camouflage on the front lights hiding the large LED lighting strip above the headlights."

I love how they put a piece of tape over the BMW logo on the stearing wheel....still not as good as the current if you ask me.

Is there an "official" unveiling scheduled for the new 5-series yet?

Anyone else see the words written in the dirt on the trunk?

I think it says "sale", at least that's all I can make out.

*look at the second picture down from the top*

I actually love it. The rear end is not nearly as offensive as the BMW 7-Series (I think BMW realized they went overboard on that one), and not quite as frumpy as the Z4's butt end either.

By the way, the reason for the trunk's design is simply because it provides more trunk room overall. So BMW went for utility against looks. I find it acceptable overall. No big deal.

Uhoh. Looks like more controversial styling for BMW. While I think the designs are interesting and different, it will not appeal to the more conservative group.

the back, its very anti-climactic. it doesnt say anything to me. it just ends. i hope the car is wider than it looks in the pics. the 7 is really hot because its so wide. im not a fan of skinny cars.

Hmmm...so they did go with the more extravogant lights in the front. Good for them. I like that. Looks good and I am sure it will look better in person. The current 5 series never looked good to my eyes.

I love the current 5 series, especially the ones where they actually paint the ridiculous black door guard strips. I admit, the front looks okay, and I hope it is wider than it is.

The current one is perfect. Bangle has yet to realize that cut-out on the trunk makes cars look cheap and bulbous.

def a hot car, looks 10x better in person than in pictures I presume, just like the 7 series, and the Z4.

The new look of the 3 series' front fascia is faggy looking though.
