Looks a little like a baby 6-series.

I saw a 1-series in San Antonio this weekend. It had plates from Mexico. I guess they sell them in Mexico. I wonder if it would be possible to bring one over to the states. It looked damned good. Sorta like a BMW and a Mazda3 had a baby.

This looks like fun:
Something tells me it would lose a little nimbleness with that lump under the hood, but it certainly would surprise a viper at a stoplight

I dont know what this V8 badge doing on the 1 series but if it's truly a V8 in there, it's from a modification house. There are no plans for such an engine in the 1 series for any country the 1 will be sold.

Also, 265HP 315Nm engine in the 135i will be introduced in other models (3, 5, 6, Z4, X3 etc) in 2007 models (starting in spring 2006). That's 265 PS which is probably close to 260HP SAE NET by the way.

BMW range gets sporty - - Source: Autocar
Latest releases from Munich include a long-awaited M-Sport package for the 1-series, with the new 3-series also getting a makeover from the Motorsport division. The M-Sport pack brings external body styling accessories, fresh interior trim and sports suspension, and both go on sale in October.
If you want the performance to match the new butch looks, the 258bhp 130i should suffice. Powered by a hefty 3.0-litre straight-six, it weighs in at an equally hefty £25,745 for the SE or £26,515 for the M-Sport. Sources from the company have also hinted that the Mini’s new 1.6-litre engine may make an appearance in one of BMW’s rear-drive cars. A turbocharged unit, capable of producing 143bhp, would seem like an ideal fit for the 1-series range.

BMW 1-Series Destined for U.S. - - Source: The Car Connection
Tom Purves, BMW North America president and CEO, says the German luxury carmaker is planning to bring a version of its 1-Series to the United States. However, it won't reach the U.S. market for another three years, which is when BMW has scheduled a re-do of the vehicle. The problem with bringing the current version to the U.S. sooner is that BMW isn't convinced that Americans really like hatchbacks. Thus the company has decided to wait until other versions of the 1-Series are available for export to the U.S. Purves also said in the interview that BMW is still hurting from the fluctuations in the exchange rate. "The problem with hedging strategies is that you don't get the full benefit when things turn around (in your favor)," he said. "There is a time lag," he added.-Joe Szczesny
