I need some help here;

Audi wants to compete with the commodity luxury brands (Lexus, Infiniti, Acura, Caddy, Volvo, etc), and the Toureg is priced at the same level of these guy's SUVs.

Where is the Q7 going to be priced? I can understand if it's going to be larger than the Toureg, but if it's priced where it should be, how will this work out? I love the Toureg, it's an Audi inside and out with a VW badge, but this is confusing to me. I might be questioning too much, must be me being tired. I'm going to sleep .

It's not you. It's VW's top brains that thought of the Tuareg. And the W8 Passat and the Phaeton. I am also curious to see where the Q7 will be set, but I am guessing it will be very close to the next generation M Class SUV's prices.

About the photo shown above:

Audi Q7 first photo -- Source: Autoweek

First photo: Audi Q7

Audi hopes to pique interest in its upcoming Q7 by issuing this rough-and-tumble official photograph of its seven-seat sport/utility vehicle more than a year before it goes on sale in North America. Based on modified underpinnings from the Volkswagen Touareg and Porsche Cayenne, Q7 will be powered by Audi's 3.2-liter V6 and 4.2-liter V8 gasoline engines. The production Q7 is expected to make its world debut at the Frankfurt motor show in September.

Audi, BMW lineup expansions planned - - Source: Autoweek

Audi not at rest

Audi’s upcoming Q7 off-roader could spawn a new hybrid to take on Lexus’ recently launched RX400h. In Geneva, Audi chairman Martin Winterkorn said Ingolstadt is developing various hybrid systems, including both gasoline/electric and diesel/electric versions. Winterkorn also confirmed Audi is working on a smaller Q5 off-roader to take on the BMW X3.

The trick for Europe will be who gets to the Diesel/Electric goal/point first.

For us, I like to see Audi keep trying.

Ya I think it's probably red tape......I don't think Audi would make such a dumbass design, based on their other cars. As for the car fucking gorgeous

The front looks better with the big mounth covered. that big mouth looks better on A4 and A6, but not with the SUV.

Those shots look damn good to me. I like it. I'm real happy they atleast lengthened it and added the third row to truly differentiate it from the VW and Porsche.

Ahhh, 3rd row. I kept looking at these pics and wondering why it structurally looked different than the VW, even though they're the same vehicle underneath. It doesn't look much longer than the VW, I can't imagine the 3rd row setting any new standard above the current children-only design of 3rd rows in the midsize SUV market.

I still think it looks more tall-wagon (e.g., Subaru Forester) than SUV (e.g., BMW X5). But overall typical avant-garde from Audi. I even like the taillights.

you can clearly see whats tape and whats actual plastic. the taillights seems to be the EXACT shape as the new A4s.

this suv is by far my favorite. toureg used to be my fav, but obv the audi version would be better looking. if i bought this car i think i would paint the middle peice of the grille.

dont get me wrong, i love the new audi grilles, but the application to an SUV is at too large of a proportion.

I think it looks great! Especially from the rear. Now only if they had a more powerful V6 engine...

Audi Releases Details on Q7

Audi Releases Details on Q7 - - SOurce: Edmunds.com

INGOLSTADT, Germany — Audi will load up its new Q7 SUV, which makes its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, with an impressive list of high-tech features.

The Audi SUV will have at its command quattro four-wheel drive, optional adaptive air suspension, and an advanced parking system with a rearview camera. The Q7 will start at 48,900 Euros or about $60,000.

The up-to-seven passenger Audi will be offered with two engine choices: a new 4.2-liter V8 that makes 350 hp or a 3.0 TDI six-cylinder that makes 233 hp. Both engines are mated to a six-speed Tiptronic transmission.

Audi said the chassis of the Q7 has several aluminum components, including double wishbones of the front and rear independent suspension. Standard features include 18-inch light alloy wheels. All versions of the Q7 can also be fitted with the optional 19-inch or 20-inch wheels.

In a statement, Audi said it is offering several "driver assistance" systems on the Q7, including a radar-based lane-departure warning system, an advanced parking system with optical and acoustic guidance, and a stability program with new functions, including hill-descent assist.

The Q7 goes on sale September 12 in Europe. It will reach the U.S. in 2006.
