It's certainly an expensive car, but the price isn't too out of line given it's equipment.
Word you have to remeber that taxes on cars in Europe is a lot higher. But is the RS6 ever going to be offered in America? I can't find it on the Audi of North America website. Also is the Audi 6 ABT the same as the RS6?

Since there was a comparison of a sedan and a sports car I figured we could just brush aside logic altogether.

Mods: I got lazy and put this in the wrong forum. Next time, I'll use the search function.

Now, I have to admit, Audi does make, as far as a whole car line, the best looking cars. While this may not be drop dead sexy to some, it is to me. A 4 door that can be used as a is appealing. Hell, I'd rather it look very pedestrian, then blow the doors off of most "sports" cars.

Audi is not putting a twin-turbo V10 in the RS5.

first spy shots of Audi A6 2012

worldcarfans:

Spies out in the field have given us the first glimpse at the next generation 2012 Audi A6. These early pics show a new set of headlights on the car that seem inspired by the A1.

A similarity in look to the A8 is not too surprising. The next A6 is expected to also adopt a variation of the mostly aluminum spaceframe from the A8 but with greater proportions of steel. Despite the unibody structure's light weight, it is more rigid than similar steel varieties.

Early speculation suggests the availability of 2.8-liter V6 and 4.2-liter V8 petrol engines, as well as 2.7- and 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesels. Output should range from a low 185 hp (138 kW) to 350 hp (261 kW) on the V8. No word yet what will replace the 429-hp (320-kW) V10 engine currently found on the S6, but we would not be surprised to see a more fuel efficient twin-turbo V8.

Now that the 2012 Audi A6 has begun testing, look for its introduction to come in either spring or fall of 2011.

their design guy left. so they've been using what he came up with and just really making it worse. they're heading towards the path the Japanese were running with back in the late 90s and early 00's - angry looking appliances.

The cars coming out now are the bigger sedans, for more conservative buyers. For something people like us enjoy, you have to look at the A4/A5. All the other stuff is bound to be less sexy by design.

Officially Official: 2012 Audi A6 grows up, borrows a page from A8

Set to make its debut early next year, the 2012 Audi A6 is a totally revamped version of the automaker's mid-size luxury sedan. Styled to match the 2011 Audi A8, the new A6 (which, as we pointed out when it leaked a day early, looks a lot like the old A6) hides plenty of lightweight aluminum and high-tech steel components under its revised exterior. Inside, the A6 benefits from a wrap-around cockpit that envelops both the driver and front passenger with leather and wood, while luxury amenities – ranging from heated and ventilated seats to optional massage functionality – are all available for the taking.

The available powertrains – a choice between two gasoline engines and three diesel mills worldwide – have improved fuel economy by 19 percent, and a hybrid version will be introduced down the road. The most economic unit, a 2.0-liter TDI, is expected to achieve about 48 miles per gallon, while the hybrid will come in closer to 38 mpg. You don't have to be totally frugal on the fuel to have some fun though, thanks to a carryover 300-horsepower supercharged 3.0-liter TFSI powerplant that achieves 27 miles per gallon and runs to a limited top speed of 155 miles per hour.

The other gasoline engine is a 2.8-liter naturally aspirated unit that produces 204 horsepower and 206 pound-feet of torque which may or may not be available in the States (don't hold you breath). For oil burner fans, two 3.0-liter diesel choices exist: a 204 hp/295 lb-ft example and a top-of-the-line 245 hp/368 lb-ft mill. The more powerful unit is rated at nearly 40 mpg yet runs from 0-60 in just 6.1 seconds.

The 2012 A6 Hybrid, the second hybrid behind the launch of the Q5, will make its debut sometime after the new A6 hits the market. Power will come from a 2.0 TFSI engine paired with an electric motor that sits between the engine and the eight-speed transmission. The A6 Hybrid will be able to run on electric power alone at speeds of up to 62 mph.

Transmission options on the 2012 A6 are as varied as the available motors they pair with. A six-speed manual will join a CVT and seven-speed S-tronic automatic before the aforementioned eight-speeder arrives in the hybrid.

A mega press release chock full of A6 information is waiting for you just after the jump, and a massive photo gallery lies down below. Keep in mind these figures represent the German version of the A6, but give us a good idea of what to expect when it makes its way to the U.S.

While nice, the 4, 6 and 8 look far too similar for my liking. You need a measuring tape to tell them apart.

Agreed, and I'm really disappointed by it.

They are starting to look like sausages. I wish they'd make them look more aggressive.

Same thing with the new cookie-cutter 5 and 7 series BMW's. Hopefully the new 3 won't look like a small 5 series....

Truth.

But at least the 5 and 7 are brand new designs. I feel like Audi has just been milking this design since 2005!

Not to nit pick but really dont like that area where the dash meets the center console. Current 3 series has it and has always bugged me.

A bit of a let down.

Seems like a model-refresh of the last 5 years.

Interior is nice, however.

"The online services, developed though a partnership between Audi and service provider Google, connect the full-sized sedan to the Internet via the Bluetooth car phone online. A UMTS module pulls images and information from Google Earth up on the monitor and integrates them with the navigation route. A WLAN hotspot provides contact to mobile terminals on board. The top of the hi-fi line is the Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System."

Smart and sensible. Interior is on point, cant wait for the RS6.

The B8 didn't come out until 2009 though ... And this is clearly a larger A4.

True but i was more talking about the overall lines of the 2005 A6 compared to now. The side looks almost the same.

At least they in the step in the right direction as always, just wished it wasnt such a small step. Better to play it safe i suppose.

2005

2012!

Even makers like Hyundai are being bold with their creases in the bodywork these days.
