Dont forget to ask where the guy is who will say it failz because it doesnt have teh superior ground clearance, or the aerodynamic mirrors of a Honda/Acura or that acura could easily slap some turbochargers on the motor to make that much power

Audi insists the RS6 Avant is not coming stateside, but they've been tightlipped on the sedan.

My rampant Audi love aside, in person they look amazing. Saw a similar design in the S6 in person and it looked and felt great.

Wouldn't hold my breath. We haven't had the RS6 stateside since 2004. The wagons aren't popular here enough for demand, & the sedan didn't clear regulations last time.

Post Audi RS6 Avant Plus

From here: http://www.gtspirit.com/2014/06/25/d...ant-plus-leak/

Earlier this year, Audi confirmed that a more powerful version of the 2014 Audi RS6 Avant was on the cards. Now, a U.K. Audi dealer has leaked official details about the uprated RS6 variant before quickly pulling them down again. Nevertheless, details of the new 2014 Audi RS6 Avant Plus were available long enough for the following screenshot to be taken.

Under the hood, the potent 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine will be uprated to now deliver 600 hp, a 40 hp increase over the 560 hp of the standard car. Alongside the engine modifications, the new 2014 Audi RS6 Avant Plus will receive improved agility and handling thanks to some weight-saving measures.

The final bit of information which leaked is that the new RS6 Avant Plus will be a full production model rather than the 2004 RS6 Plus which was limited to just 999 units around the world. As a result, they’ll be more than enough examples of the new RS6 Avant Plus to please those with deep enough pockets to afford them!

Elsewhere, we can expect the 2014 Audi RS6 Avant Plus to receive a host of special badging as well as a few interior modifications to set it apart from the standard car.

Some info on the 2016 models...

The 2016 model year sees Audi’s A6 undergo its mid-cycle update, and the latest version of the stylish sedan benefits from some subtle tweaks to the exterior, new engines and transmissions, and a new infotainment system. The changes affect the complete A6 range, including the sporty S6 as well as the A6 Avant, A6 Allroad and high-performance RS 6 Avant models that we miss out on here in the U.S.

Only true Audi fans will recognize the visual updates made to the 2016 A6 range. There are a few sharper creases added to the body, the grille made slightly more rigid, the headlights sharpened, and the exhaust pipe design revised. The turn signals get Audi’s dynamic LED feature already found on the 2015 A7 and A8 families, and overseas buyers have the option of Audi’s Matrix LED headlight technology.

For the interior, some new color combinations are offered but the big news is the introduction of a more advanced infotainment system. The system benefits from a faster processer and can be optioned with Audi’s MMI navigation plus system and the MMI touch controller. High-speed LTE data transfer is available via the Audi connect option.

The electronic driver aids of the 2016 A6 range have also been updated. Systems include adaptive cruise control with stop & go traffic crawling, blind spot and lane keep assist, enhanced night vision, and Audi pre sense active braking. A head-up display is also available.

On some models, glass fiber-reinforced polymer springs are used for the suspension, helping to save almost 10 pounds compared to conventional steel springs. The lightest 2016 A6 tips the scales at an incredibly low 3,384 pounds, making it as light as the smaller Cadillac ATS.

In Europe, the base engine is a 1.8-liter TFSI. It’s not clear if this unit will replace the 2.0-liter TFSI currently fitted to the base A6 sold in the U.S. The available 3.0-liter TDI and TFSI units sold here should carry over with minor improvements. Crucially, Audi has dropped the CVT option for its 2016 A6, with the transmissionlineup in Europe consisting of six-speed manual, seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch and eight-speed tiptronic automatic units. We should get the seven-speed dual-clutch as standard in the U.S. with the eight-speed auto reserved for the TDI model.

The 2016 S6, meanwhile, sees output from its 4.0-liter TFSI lifted to 450 horsepower, helping it to accelerate from 0-62 mph in just 4.4 seconds. At the top of the range is the 2016 RS 6 Avant, which will likely remain forbidden fruit for the U.S. It features the same engine as the S6 but with output raised to 560 hp. This model needs just 3.9 seconds for the 0-62 mph dash. Both the S6 and RS 6 come standard with quattro all-wheel drive.

Sales of the 2016 Audi A6 range in Europe commence shortly after a debut at the 2014 Paris Auto Show on October 2. Full specifications for the U.S. market will be announced at a later date.

I wish we could get a normal A4 Avant here with TDI. That A6 is amazing.

Yes I know they do. I want a good German performance wagon but we can't have any. Preferably with AWD. They are going to force me to look at used Cayenne GTS if they don't send some Audi wagons over that are not the All Road.

A6 is under 3400 lbs?

Did the aluminum construction in the A8 trickle down?

Matters not to VAG. They'll have your money either way.

That's the unfortunate truth. America is a truck & SUV society. We'd sooner see a twin turbo V8 SUV than a twin turbo V8 wagon. Pisses me off too, but I don't blame them.

I see people rationalizing SUVs because they have young kids, etc etc ... After they list what they take with them, no wonder they need a huge vehicle.

They have strollers that look like MRAPs, pack the car with crap, and pull their den behind them ... To go on a day trip.

I would get an RS6 on a Cayenne GTS, it's far cooler...
I drove an RS6 in red color and black wheels... it's just sensational.
(and if the standard config not enough there is still the RS plus, with 600 hp...)

Post Audi RS6 Avant by Audi Exclusive

From here: Audi Exclusive introduces one-off RS 6 Avant | New and Used Car Reviews, Research & Automotive-Industry News & LeftLaneNews

The custom RS 6 stands out thanks to a murdered-out appearance characterized by a flat gray paint job, real carbon fiber trim on both ends as well as on the door mirrors and glossy black five-spoke alloy wheels wrapped by low-profile tires.

The treatment continues inside with carbon fiber trim on the center console and on the door panels and black leather upholstery with yellow contrast stitching.

Audi has not made any mechanical modifications to the RS 6, meaning the one-off model packs a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine that develops 552 horsepower and 516 lb-ft. of torque. It spins all four wheels via an eight-speed tiptronic transmission controlled by shift paddles and Audi's quattro all-wheel drive system. The sprint from zero to 62 mph takes 3.9 seconds, and top speed is electronically limited to 189 mph.

Ventilated discs and six-piston calipers bring the super wagon to a stop. Audi has not revealed if the one-off model is fitted with the standard steel suspension or the optional adjustable air suspension.

Similarly, Audi Exclusive has not disclosed how much the one-off RS 6 Avant costs. The stock RS 6 carries a base price of €109,200 in Germany, a lofty sum that converts to nearly $133,000.

Press release for the 2016 RS6 Avant...

Even more performance coupled with outstanding efficiency – that is what is behind the new “performance” model designation at Audi. The Audi RS 6 Avant performance* and Audi RS 7 Sportback performance* further hone the brand’s sporty profile. Their 4.0 TFSI engine with 445 kW (605 hp) and up to 750 Nm (553.2 lb ft) of torque push acceleration (3.7 seconds) nearly to levels usually reserved for supercars. Fuel consumption remains unchanged at 9.6 and 9.5 liters per 100 kilometers (24.5 and 24.8 US mpg), respectively, corresponding to 223 and 221 g CO2 per km (358.9 and 355.7 g/mi). These are best-in-segment figures.

These top figures for power and efficiency are made possible by the technological expertise of Audi and quattro GmbH. Engineering skills and long years of experience with RS high-performance models went into further optimizing the 4.0 TFSI, from the specific engine management system with increased rpm and boost pressure to the Audi cylinder on demand (COD) system, which only activates four of the eight cylinders when under part load.

quattro permanent all-wheel drive delivers the power to the road and flexibly distributes torque as needed via the center differential. In the standard configuration, 40 percent flows to the front axle and 60 percent to the rear axle. The wheel-selective torque control intervenes as necessary. Audi also equips the quattro drivetrain with an optional sport differential on the rear axle with active torque distribution between the inside and outside wheel.

The sportily elegant interior of the RS 6 Avant performance and RS 7 Sportback performance comes standard with RS sport seats with pronounced side bolsters and integrated head restraints. Audi offers the seats in the color combination black and blue with the optional RS performance design package. This includes new seat upholstery in an Alcantara/leather combination with a honeycomb pattern and matching contrasting stitching on the armrests, control elements and floor mats. Rounding out this interior combination are knee pads in Alcantara and carbon twill blue inlays. This sophisticated and exclusive carbon material is interwoven with a blue thread. The dial instruments feature black faces, white dials and red needles.

The new RS performance models come standard with exclusive 21‑inch cast aluminum wheels shod with size 285/30 tires on the RS 6 Avant performance and 275/30 tires on the RS 7 Sportback performance. The four internally ventilated brake disks have a weight-saving wave design; as an option, Audi offers carbon fiber-ceramic disks. Electronic Stabilization Control (ESC) has a Sport mode and can be deactivated if need be.

The new Audi RS 6 Avant performance costs 117,000 euros in Germany.

Audi RS 6 Avant performance:
Combined fuel consumption in l/100 km: 9.6 (24.5 US mpg);
Combined CO2 emissions in g/km: 223 (358.9 g/mi)
