I love the sketch. But if anything, the car should grow slightly, not shrink.

Just cause the exterior shrinks that doesn't mean the interior has to. Look at the RL...not the greatest of examples, but it's nice that some people believe bigger isn't always better. And that the newer model doesn't have to be bigger than the one it replaces in order for it to be better.

Whatever. The current car is a small car. I never said it should grow significantly; just said it's really weird to chop many inches off a car that is already on the smallish side. In this case, bigger would be better.

The main problem with the current A4 with regard to interior space, is the rear passenger knee room. It's impossible for adults to be comfortable back there. So if Audi manages to keep its overall length smaller but increase the wheelbase and have more room for rear passenger as a result of that, it'd be fine. However, with the FWD/AWD setup, such a move would be very difficult to accomplish.

Yes it is. I first said "But if anything, the car should grow slightly, not shrink." Then, I said "In this case, bigger would be better.." In both cases, I think the next gen car should be a large, if anything, instead of being even slightly smaller.

Didn't the 3G TL shrink 6 inches in overall length when compared to 2G and 1G (which are both around 192 inch) and yet the 3G has more overall interior room.

I'm fine with making it smaller. Body length means nothing without knowing how long the wheelbase is gonna be. I'd definetely prefer a smaller body length with a nice long wheelbase to give that taut look.

Here, I'll quote you again...

First statement...

2nd statement...

That's not what the first statement said. My comment/argument to your first statement was valid...and my opinion. If you want to clarify what you said or wanted to say, that's fine, but don't act like that's what you said that in the first place.

You don't know what the interior size is like and IMO the outside of the A4 is seems pretty big in relation to the interior, so making the outside smaller isn't bad IMO as long as the interior doesn't shrink.

From the Audi forum.........lol, thing weighs as much as a house.

"The RS 4 weight info has been verified at:

3957 lbs / 1795 kg.

Couple of tidbits...19" wheels are STANDARD in US..this is not the case in other places. The RS 4 press events are soon..and the trade mags in the US will have their ability to test the car soon.

BTW, the source of this information is from within Audi...not at a dealership."

3900 lbs seems crazy for such a "smallish" looking car.... I mean what's the frame made of, lead???

oh yea - to put things into perspective... the RS4 weighs 200 lbs more than a '06 GS430. that's plain ridiculous.

Sadly i thought this rs4 would give the next gen M3 a run for its money. BUt we all know how anal bmw with weight savings.

Audi is one step behind once again.

Not sure what Audi might have plans for the future, but the current RS4 will have nothing on the next M3.

I am actually not all that surprised with the weight... isn't it true that almost all Audi cars are (comparatively) heavier/much heavier compared to other cars of the same exterior-size & class?

And although it weighs like a house, it still handles and performs very very well.

Also want to point out the horrible mileage from what I've read (10city/20highway).

How many of you realize that RS4 comes standard with 200LB+ quattro AWD?

This is actually not bad. Consider Quattro probably added between 200 to 300 lb at least to the weight of the car.

If RS4 was only available with RDW, the weight is probably some where beween 3700 to 3800 lb. Although still not that great, but wouldn't be too much more than the new M3.

Thats around 200 pounds lighter than an A8. Audi's the best selling german in Europe, but with weight figures like that, you'll never see me driving any audi other than an A8. Its utterly ridiculous, no "sports car" should weigh nearly that much

How much does Acura's SH-AWD weigh in total?

Just wondering how much it will add to the next TSX...

^^ That interior is gorgeous.

Yes the car is heavy, but after watching the Top Gear review, it certainly holds it's own in the twisties.
