Audi: RS4 news **R&T Performance Numbers (page 7)**
Rumor has it sporting a 425hp NA V8 mated to a 7 speed DSG transmission and rear biased Quattro (instead of the typical 50:50 that Audi uses).

i cant wait to see the next gen M3...400+hp V8...i am sure bmw is not gonna let the M3 get pushed around by a S4, RS4, or C55AMG

Weren't all the previous-gen RS4s wagons? What's with the sedans now?

Nice.
I predict that black will soon become the best-selling color for Audi.

here are the rumors for engines:
3.2 twin turbo 6
3.0 twin turbo 6
RS6 engine twin turbo 8 (450hp..and massive amounts of torque)
lastly
450hp NA V8 S4 engine...
my bet is on the RS6 engine. For those who say it wont fit, dont forget, for the B7 model, there is a bit more room under the hood...they moved the engine closer to the middle to increase better the distribution...so yeah, my bet is on RS6 engine.
either way, if it is pricedaround $85-90k Canadian, comes in 6-speed...it WILL be my next ride.

audi is moving away from turbos....the current RS6 is going out of production, the new A6 has no turbo options, the the A8 has no turbo options, the A4 has one and the TT has one, thats it, and i doubt those will be around much longer either. id like to know how anyone can discern from those pics that its an RS4...i mean that could simply be the B7 version of the S4...which in all probability it is, given the fact that the RS4 has never even been in north america before. amirs rumored engines are about as likely as his ability to buy a 90k car, lol. theres no way they are going to do anything like that man, where do you pull that crap from? didnt you see the article last week where audi SPECIFICALLY admited that they are throwing in the towel and bowing out of the horsepower wars of the last few years with all the AMG, M series, etc....audi said last week they will not continue this trend and that future S model cars will have little or no actual performance gains over the standard version of the car, much like the new TL A-Spec...an S car will end up being a suspension/appearance package.
sorry guys, these pics arent nearly as exciting as some want to beleive, id bet the farm that this is simply the new S4...the B7 facelifted S4..and its drivetrain will be the same thing thats in the current S4...340hp 4.2 V8.....

Jim,
Audi planned to already use a 2.0t for their B7. I dont think they will let away with that. Also offical B7 S4 pics have already been out which dont look like that RS4. Fenders are def bigger on that RS4 posted compared to the S4. Plus the front is completely different.

that brings me back to the article that was posted last week....Audi is bowing out of this horsepower war with AMG and M series benz and has said (in so many words) that in the near future RS and S cars will merely be suspension/appearance packages....so if this picture is indeed what could be an B7 RS4, the idea that they would wedge the RS6 motor in there is absurd given their recent statements regarding the future. hell, this car in this thread could simply be a B7 A4 2.0t with the ultrasport package!!! theres no evidence to indicate what that is. as we have seen, the current A4 1.8t and 3.0 ultra sport package looks fucking sweet and looks more agressive than the B6 S4 even!! so hell, this could be the same thing....never know.
the new 2.0t is just more or less a slight upgrade over the 1.8T, other than .2 liters (which is what in terms of volume? about the same amount of volume as 2 small swigs of beer) its probably much of the same drivetrain. this is sort of like how the S2000 had a 2.0l and now has a 2.2l....not too big of a difference, but it gives people the impression of something new, better, worth upgrading to, etc. i just highly doubt we will be seeing anymore Audi twin turbo vehicles again at all in the near future...in terms of cost to them for warranty work when things go wrong, its STAGGERING how much of a loss they take considering that you cant change turbos on a B5 S4 or C5 A6 like mine without pulling out the entire engine and removing the front end of the car. they are moving toward making more power N/A probably more for reliability and low cost of maintainance than anything else.

You read the article wrong, Audi isnt saying they wont make high HP cars... they are saying they wont compete with bmw and benz. Even if they made a 450hp rs4, they are still way below what bmw and benz has which is the same as being out of the race.
MY point with the 2.0t fsi engine is that they will still keep that around for awhile. Its a proven engine thats been in europe for awhile now. Its not new. Plus its rare for a 1.8t turbo to blow.

lol, then why does it seem that 2.7t motors blow turbos all the time? it just seems that this drivetrain has a particular bad reputation for turbo failure even though its got virtually identical turbos to the one on the 1.8t drivetrain....

I dont know the technical reasons but i been on the audi forums for a long time, go and try to find two posts where people had their turbo blow with their 1.8t. I gain nothing to BS.

im not claiming you are BSing dude, i know what you mean, i cruise Audiworld quite frequently. its just weird how so many people talk about how thr 2.7t pops turbos like popcorn kernels but when it comes to actually having someone come forward and say they have turbos blow, there really arent that many, and most of the ones that fail, had those super aggressive chips....i still cant beleive how much power a chip will give my A6 or a B5 S4....
but regardless, it seems that theres this unfortunate reputation of audi not using strong enough turbos, i mean hell, imagine how much stronger the RS6 could easily be with some bigger turbos, i mean we already see that APR has a chip for the RS6 that puts it well over 500 hp and 500 ft lbs.....id like to see what that would run
