After ages of speculation and rumor, Aston Martin today confirmed the return of the historic Lagonda badge to its line. The new sedan wears sleek and sultry Aston looks every bit as well as the two-doors, and it will only be available to an exclusive section of Aston’s market.

Built exclusively for the Middle East, the new Lagonda will see “strictly limited series production” begin in early 2015.

Hand-built by the team of craft builders in Gaydon, the Lagonda will be assembled in the same building previously used for the One-77’s construction.

As you might expect of such a limited-edition, exclusive car, sales will be by invitation only. As such, details such as price will remain confidential. Aston Martin assures us that “the asking price will be commensurate with the car’s exclusivity, quality, and luxurious nature,” however.

But of course.

The company’s design director Marek Reichman explains the car’s inspiration, “The new model, like its exclusive siblings the One-77 and V12 Zagato, has been created as a piece of exceptional automotive art. It has been designed and developed entirely in keeping with the spirit and ethos of previous Lagonda super saloons–notably the William Towns Lagonda–and as a tribute to this car it proudly bears the Lagonda nameplate.”

[h=1]The New Aston Martin Lagonda Sedan[/h]

Aston Martin released a gallery of photos starring their new Lagonda sedan, which Carscoops.com published Aug. 7. This new model was designed exclusively for the Middle East, where the images were taken (Oman).

The Aston Martin Lagonda takes inspiraton from the original model from the mid 1970’s. The most notable similarity between the new Lagonda and the original is the long front end, which resolves with a narrow and “pointy” front fascia. The rear is short, just like the original, drawing more attention to the cabin and lengthy front-end. Also, one of the most important cues is the four-door layout.

While Aston Martin remains tight-lipped about the Lagonda’s technical details, we can assume that the car will be powered by the same 6.0-liter V12 engine powering the V12 Vantage S Roadster. This engine produces 65 bhp and 457 lb-ft of torque. What would be even more exciting is if Aston Martin decided power the Lagonda with the 7.3-liter V12 found in the One-77.
As previously stated, the Middle East will exclusively be getting the Aston Martin Lagonda. It looks as though we will have to wait for an owner to sell one in order for it to come overseas.
Be sure to stay with us for more information on the Lagonda as it is released.

I get what you mean, but frankly, they probably don't give crap what you nor I think, since this will probably cost more than a house, lol. But despite looking like it belongs in an old sci fi movie, I think it looks great!

From here: Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf To Reach More Markets, But Not U.S.

Aston Martin’s coachbuilt sedan, the Lagonda Taraf, which is based on Rapide running gear, was originally intended only for the Middle East market. Interest in the car from elsewhere got Aston Martin wondering if it should build a few more examples of the car for other markets, and now the British automaker has confirmed just that.
Though availability will still be limited (a cap of 200 examples has been set), Aston Martin has started taking orders for the Lagonda Taraf in some European countries as well as in South Africa and its U.K. home. Unfortunately, fans of the stately sedan in Aston Martin’s biggest markets, China and the U.S., will have to look on with envy.

The Lagonda Taraf is mostly hand-built in a dedicated building previously given over to the creation of the One-77 supercar. It features the automaker’s venerable 6.0-liter V-12 as its power source, and extensive use of carbon fiber in its construction. Naturally, each Lagonda Taraf buyer will have the option of ensuring their car is truly unique by customizing it via the Q by Aston Martin personalization service.

“Opening up the Lagonda Taraf to an increased number of customers around the world was a high priority for me as soon as I joined Aston Martin late last year,” Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer said in a statement. “I wanted to be able to offer this exceptional saloon to the potential owners from around the globe who have been enquiring about it, and I’m very happy that we have been able to expand the Lagonda proposition.”

The return of the Lagonda badge with the arrival of the Lagonda Taraf follows in the wake of other bespoke special projects by Aston Martin such as the latest Vulcan track car and Vantage GT3 road-going racer, both of which debut this week at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.

Lagonda: Ultra-Lux Aston Martin SUV News

https://www.topgear.com/car-news/ele...ctric-suv-2021

Watch out, Rolls-Royce Cullinan. Aston’s ultra-lux offshoot is forging a battery-powered SUV

Need more proof that the SUV is the new four-wheeled shorthand for ultimate luxury, improbable performance, and launching traditional brands into new stratospheres? Aston Martin’s ultra-luxury, Rolls-Royce-baiting offshoot, Lagonda, is the latest, and possibly the most ambitious proponent of the super-SUV theme. Today, Lagonda’s confirmed it’ll unveil an all-electric battery-powered SUV by 2021.

Lagonda says the new, as-yet unchristened SUV’s design will be an evolution of the Lagonda Vision concept saloon that we gawped over at the 2018 Geneva motor show. Crikey. Aston Martin’s chief designer, Marek Reichman, said: “The Lagonda SUV will retain the boldness of the Vision. Lagonda is a luxury brand, but it is also one rooted in technology. It will be like no other SUV to drive, so its looks have to reflect that new reality and to serve as pathfinder to a future in which the most desirable and prestigious automobiles still have a place.”

The Vision concept proposed use of solid-state batteries, a 400-mile range, and wireless conductive charging. Because princesses, oligarchs and Premier League left-backs couldn’t possibly be bothered with a charging cable and socket. We’ll discover how much of that spec makes it into the Lagonda SUV in the coming years.

And if you’d like a Lagonda that isn’t SUV-shaped, hopefully you won’t be waiting too long. The company says the SUV will merely be the opening salvo in a range of ‘state of the art, emission-free luxury vehicles’.

How times have changed. The last time the Lagonda name appeared on an SUV concept, in 2009, the car in question was powered by a 6.0-litre V12 (with diesel and hybrid variants planned) and it looked like the lovechild of a whale-shark and a Rolls-Royce Phantom. So negative was the feedback that Lagonda disappeared for almost a decade in the meantime to reapproach its comeback.

And we’re sure it’s a complete coincidence that Lagonda has made this announcement literally a day before Rolls-Royce attempts to steal the ultimate luxury SUV title by revealing the new Cullinan. Pure chance, surely?
