Question Anthracite vs. Silver...a dillema

I am not sure if I should get Silver or Anthracite. Any opinions or pictures of these colors is much appreciated. Are there any downsides of either color. Which one makes the car stand out and /or look the best. I know Justin said that the black sort of covers up the lines of the car. I think because silver is so common, the fact that few people have a color similar to Anthracite will make the car stand out. Anyone?

Well, I'm a TSX guy but I say GO DARK DUDE, get the anthracite. I think TL looks best in that color.

Wink

we (my mom...i hope i get to drive it)are probably about to buy the tl (other option is g35coupe). we saw the car in anthracite, and it looked amazing...u would think it looks boring, but it definately doesnt. my mom wants to get the car in black, but as someone already stated, it masks the lines of the car. i would say that the best light color is white, which looks suprisingly good.

ryder1650,

How do you like the look of the front side-markers? If you don't want them to stand out, get the Anthracite. Since the lens color is gray, it's almost invisible during the day.

Anthracite is less common than silver and IMHO gives a more luxury look. Silver is more sporty. My real beef with silver is the high contrast of the black trim (windows, lower grills, etc.) In anthracite, the black trim sort of compliments the medium dark tone of the anthracite. Actually all the colors look very good. The darker colors show the overall shape of the car better, while the lighter colors emphasize the lines and features of the car.

I have a silver '04TL, but I was very tempted to get the anthracite. Silver doesn't show the dirt, but is getting pretty cliche these days. I saw an anthracite on the road and was very impressed.

Thank you all for your input. I think silver is geting all too common. I prefer Anthracite over Nighthawk Black I doubt it gets as dirty as black, and it is a rarer color on the street. It probably makes the car stand out more than silver. This is great, we are all talking again!

I have the Anthracite and I love this color. I was torn between the same two colors, but came to the conclusion of Anthracite. That's my suggestion!

well im already on record as saying the TL looks better in the lighter colors...IMO. White, then silver.

How about I start a 24hr poll for you ryder1650. question of the day silver or anthracite.

Everybody likes silver (except me) - it's probably the most popular color for a car. The plus side is you'll have an easier time selling it when the time comes. The down side is everyone else will have a silver car just like yours, whereas Anthracite will be a little more unique.

Personally, I would go with the Anthracite.

Torn

I was torn between the two also, but logic took over and I selected silver as it is easier to maintain the look of the car than Anthrocite.

It all depends on who will take care of the car (will you wash/wax it yourself, or pay someone to do it) and how much time you want to devote to keeping it clean and swirl free.

As you know, silver is the easiest, and with ebony inside, it can not be any easier, but you will be one of many with that color, which is the downside (and is taking some time for me to get used to).

I have owned white, silver, anthrocite shade, and dark blue cars, they are all great, again, it just depends on what you like.

If Anthracite was available in Canada without going to the 6MT I would have order the Anthracite. There are so many light silver cars right now around here I would want a slightly different colour. However, both colours look great and you can't really go wrong.

My current TLS is SSM and if/when I get the new one, I am getting anthracite.

You can't lose.

In person I have seen everything so far except the Green. Anthracite, White, and Blue look the best on the TL.

My favorite color is blue. To get Anthracite in Canada, you need to get the 6-speed transmission and unfortunately it's not an option for me (because of my g/f not liking to drive manual).

Silver is too common. Makes your TL a little less special but it looks nice just as most other cars would look nice in silver.

White does look very Sharp also...!

I've never really given White that much thought one way or the other in the past. But when you see a White/Parchment TL - I must admit, it really looks sharp.

White is relatively easy to keep clean compared to the darker colors and it won't be the same old silver, we all see..on far too many cars these days. ...and this is coming from someone who really likes the TL in silver.

The TL is a great car no matter which color you pick...

Unless Anthracite looks better in person I would skip it. I don't like it at all. I like all the other colors except for desert fox and anthracite.

Thanks everyone! I think I am starting to lean towards Anthracite...however, I am going to go to the dealer with all of your comments and check both side by side...I believe a local dealer is getting an anthracite with quartz the third week of november..thanks again!

I liked anthracite a lot when it was sitting in the showroom all shined up. However, when it gets dirty, I'd imagine it looks pretty dull. Sort of like the old Laguna color did on the 99-01's. We also debated between the antracite and silver....we went w/ the silver.

I prefer the silver, I think the anthracite looks too dull when it get's dirty, looks best when it's clean & sunny. It's still a very nice color for the TL.

IMO I don't know of any color that looks good dirty. I judge a car on what it looks like clean. While it will not always be so, I plan to keep my Anthracite/Quartz clean 95% of the time. Anthracite looks very good clean and in the daylight. It looks very different depending on the light angle and the type of light. Sometimes I see a green tint, sometimes a blue. At night it is a more subtle grey, elegant, but still nice. Dirty I expect it will be very drab. That is just more reason to keep it clean!

(If you don't keep your car clean, don't get the Anthracite.)

My issue with anthracite versus the black is the interior. I think the black with quartz interior looks sharp. Not a huge fan of the black interior (just a little dull) and really hate the plood when you get the tan colors. So what interior with the anthracite? Ah dilema

Anthracite with Quartz. You have to see it in person to appreciate it. IMHO the anthracite looks like it was made to match the quartz.

I think the silver looks better at night. I have not seen the anthracite on the new TL in day light yet. I followed an 02 or 03 in Anthracite a few months ago and must say it looked great in day light. Is the Anthracite for the 04 identicle to Anthracite in the 02 or 03?

I have the CG/Ebony TSX and have an Anthracite/Ebony TL on order now. I was able to compare them side-by-side in daylight and there is a noticeable difference. The TL is a lighter shade of grey but both of these colors are head turners.

I like both of those colors with the Quartz interior as well. Are you keeping your TSX or trading in?

Not trading the TSX. We really love that car. My daughter's Honda Civic is outta here. Unfortunately, when we get the TL, she gets to use the TSX most of the time cause the MDX is too big. The TSx is one fun car to drive. But I expect the TL to also be a lot of fun. They are really close in appearance. Kind of like the TL is a TSX on steroids.

The TL is fun to drive. More acceleration than the TSX. Doesn't handle as well, especially the 5AT version. Softer ride, which may or may not be a good thing.
