I actually talked to some design person from Acura at the Autoshow last month and told him Acura needs to change the fucking grille on the TL. He said ppl wanted something bold,.........ya, but not ugly. I also said he should read the online forums, which he said they look at. He was making notes about what ppl thought of the car etc. Then I made my dad go over and tell him the same shit I had just said hahahaha.

Are all fluff that don't help anyone. Something like " the grill would look better if the cut lines matched up with the hood" are things that can be integrated or reviewed. I'm willing to concede that if you look hard enough you'll find some good styling analysis, but you're effectively looking for one post in a hundred. This is probably why forum comments are dismissed. It's too bad really, because there are some good nuggets here.

Oh they read the forums, but the problem is that most of the comments are just 'peanut gallery' type stuff and don't lend credence to anyone's argument. In the end, they will just dismiss them all because it's hard to separate the wheat from the chaff. Things like:

I kind of like it on the TSX, but even then i think it still needs some modifications. I love it on the MDX though.

I was not implying they dont read the forums, rather they probably dont pick out the useful comments/bits of information. There was plenty of stuff thrown around over the last while about how improvements could be made to the TL on AZ. My thoughts on how to improve the TL were nothing new, basically echoed what lots of ppl on AZ have said in various threads.

Well there are certainly a lot of puerile posts here and its not rocket science to filter those out as random noise in the data sample.
I'll also hazard a guess that a lot of posters here aren't new car buyers in Acura's target market segment, so even valid posts may not be worth much to Acura. Acurazine is a great place but I don't think a lot of 40 something, $100k/yr+ luxury with a dash of sport oriented new car buyers post or even visit this forum.

The problem is that much of the internet has degenerated into snarky comments and brainless fluff. Most internet criticism is intended to demonstrate the cleverness of the poster, rather than initiate any worthwhile discussion. Unfortunately, I can see why auto companies would dismiss most of the internet forum drivel.

This is why they have focus groups.... clever enough?

No, not particularly clever. I've seen much better lines about the TL grill. You might want to stick to your day job.

Acura announced it will debut a prototype of the all-new ZDX luxury four-door sport coupe at the New York International Auto Show. The prototype features striking coupe-like styling with the added benefit of a commanding presence and flexible utility to define a new luxury category.
“The ZDX prototype is unlike anything you have ever seen before from Acura,” said Jeff Conrad, vice president, Acura sales. “The prototype showcases a new level of luxury, style and refinement for Acura and speaks volumes towards our commitment to advancing the brand.”
The production version of the ZDX prototype will bring a new level of prestige to the Acura lineup when it arrives at dealerships this fall and offer the latest advancements in performance, technology and safety.
The ZDX prototype will be introduced at the New York International Auto Show on April 8, 2009 at 11:00 am in the Acura booth.

Go Big Blue!
What's gay about "ZDX"? I mean, how is that worse then any other of the meaningless letter names already used? Elaborate.
At least it's easier to say than the rumored MSX name. That's a plus I guess

^ Very good
BTW, I agree the self proclaimed category "Sport Coupe" is gay. Kind of redundant isn't it. Regardless, I guess we'll see how sporty it is soon enough

Mercedes started it with the 'coupe' moniker for the S Class sedan. I'm not a huge fan of this confusing category bending either and it is possible that the economic times necessitated the categorization. They may be taking a page from the Toyota Venza ad campaign. I've noticed that in all the ads, they refer to the Venza as a car, whereas, it is likely that during the planning phases, it was a 'crossover' (now SUVs are out of favor) The vehicle itself is looking more and more (to me anyway) like an RL 'coupe' in terms of focus/execution.

Seriously, the name won't make one bit of diff - the entire concept of the vehicle is a lot more questionable than some name a bored marketeer came up with.
#393
I agree, it's probably the wrong car for the times, but there's not much anyone can to about that at this point. (other than not make it at all).

Agree. That is even worse. I know there's no law that defines these terms but a coupe has generally come to be known as a sporty "2 door" 4 passenger car. To call something a sporty coupe is redundant. To call it a Sporty Coupe Sedan requires me to twist my mind too much and gives this 40+ year old guy a headache.
