Funny because we've had the exact same conversation over at A-TSX.
Type S > A-Spec by a long shot. The only thing that is semi-decent from the A-Spec is the suspension kit that goes for about $700. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33590
We've all got our fingers crossed with the rumor of an IMA equipped TSX for 2006.

Honda turbos coming? - - Source: THe Car Connection
According to information posted to a popular Honda enthusiast Web site, honda-acura.net, the automaker plans to bring its first-ever turbocharged engine to the U.S. for model year 2006 or 2007. The 2.4-liter four would be fitted into either the Acura TSX or a new high-performance Civic model that would slot above the Si. The engine would be of a new design - not that of the 2.4 currently used in several U.S. products including the best-selling Accord - and would probably make about 240 hp. The next-generation Honda Civic Si will have either a 2.0-liter or 2.4-liter four, with standard horsepower boosted to around 200 hp in either form. Honda has already announced that it will offer a version of variable cylinder management system on a redesigned Pilot due this fall, and it will also offer a revamped engine lineup, including hybrid offerings, on Civic models, which will be all-new for '06.

Although the article makes no mention of SHAWD, I am guessing if the TSX comes with a turbo engine, it will need AWD to cope with the added torque. Plus there have been pretty reliable rumors about SHAWD being applied to the TSX and other Acura models.

I thought SH-AWD was too heavy to be added to the TSX? I think the engineer who designed it said that it would only be reserved for the bigger models like the TL and RL.
I'll still take a turbo TSX if one becomes available

I just dont understand if they want 240HP for the TSX, why dont they put the V6 from the US Spec Accord in there? Wont it fit? Is it an engine configuration limitation? Cos it cant be gas consumption in this case. I cant see the V6 burning a ton more gas than a turbo 2.4 four cyl.

As for the V6, it does NOT fit. It's too wide. Unless the next generation TSX gets a stretch in the frame, don't expect to see a V6. Also, the added weight of the V6 would further add weight to the front of the car, messing up the weight balance further. Turbo is a great way to add the power without sacrificing much weight.

It would compete with the E55 AMG (or atleast get close to it, >400hp). For $30k less, assuming AWD + Turbo will cost 15k, which is generous by any standard. Can you fucking imagine that? It would do wonders for Acura's image, too.
AND it would be my next car, hands down.

isn't it surprising that Honda has never done a turbo from the factory??? I mean, why? Like pretty much every other car company has done something with turbos...

There is no way the TSX is gonna get a SH-AWD with I4-Turbo. Acura has already said that SH-AWD needs a V6 configuration. The TSX would probably get the AWD from the CRV.
As long as the TSX comes in two configurations... base with 200HP, as it currently is, and then the TypeS/A-Spec version with 240HP/AWD/Turbo, I think Acura has it covered. If u want more HP than that, go buy a TL. Another opinion I would venture is that when the TSX gets an AWD, I would bet so would the TL.
Just my .02

yea but acura can't just stop at what it'd doing now. They need to up the game because all other manufacturers are doing it. Marketplace is so faced paced right now. AWD or RWD is a must to finally get over the hump in comparos against BMW, Audi, Lex, Infiniti.
Atleast i hope so!!

agreed. But the auto industry snobs still don't give it the respect it deserves. Also, 250hp would really require the addition of HLSD.....and all those whining about Trq steer. SHAWD would transform this car into something very special.....s4 territory.

Also, if anything I'm sure acura has proved to itself they don't need awd to sell cars, tl sales are leading the pack and I'd think thats more important to them than leading in the magazines.
agreed.....but industry acceptence doesn't hurt......aaaaaand it's wishful thinking as an performance enthusiast
