300HP and FWD just don't mix.
Well it depends on the torque value and curve slope. If 300HP comes from 2.5 liters, it's easily doable on FWD, because max torque would probably not go above 200 pounds. So no issues...

My guess is that if Acura goes with the 3.5L engine and SHAWD on the TL, the peak HP will be higher than 295 and it should be higher than the 306HP from the IS350.

They'll save the SH-AWD for 2009, for now FWD will do it for them.

Probably. It would be great competition against the G35X and the IS350.

No everyone wants AWD...or wants to pay extra for it. Acura needs to offer RWD and AWD.

Maybe they will do what Audi does and offer FWD and AWD.

Any confirmed or reliable info on the proposed changes for the TL in 2007? I've heard more power, turn signal indicators added to side mirrors, backup lights moved from license plate area down into rear bumber, tail lights to get clear lenses. Just wondered how much of this, if any, can be confirmed. And what other info anyone has heard. We're trying to decide if we should buy an '06 now, or wait for the '07. Would help my decision if I knew more about the '07.

Yeah, higher HP w/o SH-AWD (and the extra weight that goes with shawd) will make for an interesting launch...

If they have a new engine for the MDX, it would make sense to throw it in the RL...especially if they're bumping up the TL for the MMC...and turboing the TSX? -S variants all around for 07?

Nobody knows. Honda is very tight-lipped about their releases. They always have been.

Things likely to happen for 07 by my best guess:

-more power
-turn signal mirrors
-a feature or two over the 06 (maybe navtraffic like the RL or a power steering wheel?)

Most definitely the taillights will change. I'm guessing whiting out one of the red areas or giving it amber turn signals.

The Accord received different wood-pattern trim (plood), I'm guessing the plood-version of the TL will too.

Doesn't the current TL have a torque-steer correcting system (same as what saab has been doing for awhile...it limits the torque in 1st and 2nd gears)?

Theoretically, the cause of torque steer isn't the "torque", it's the uneven application of the torque to the front wheels, and current methods try to correct this "indirectly" by suspension geometry. Honda already has technology that can actively "control" torque, such as the system that was in the Prelude SH and the RL's SH-AWD. They could use torque limiting that they use now in 1st and 2nd gear, but also incorporate technology that could actively direct the flow of torque on starts (maybe even getting rid of torque limiting), and the system can also add to handling like in the prelude. This would probably kill all road feel, but it could work.

Or even a simpler method, they can incorporate a system into VSA..it could sense the forces acting on the steering components under hard acceleration and use the front brakes to direct the torque one way or another to equalize the forces acting on the steering pinion.

So theoretically speaking, with current and new technology, they can easily fix torque steer even with high torque on FWD cars. The only question is what costs this would involve, and would it just be more economical and sensible to go to RWD or AWD?

Not to start discussing this ad again, but most likely not...BMW's direct competitor to the Rabbit or GTI or higher golf/jetta trims is the Mini, which is also FWD.

Techincally, is that a "Rabbit" or a "hare"?

Rabbit:

Hare:

Differences between the two:

Rabbits are slightly shorter legged, and are happy living in groups. Rabbits also burrow, and in the wild will live below ground when they are not feeding, and they have their litters below ground.

Hares are solitary creatures unless breeding, and rely on running rather than burrowing for protection. They have very long and strong hind legs, more so than rabbits. They make shallow "scrapes" in which to hide, but generally dig no deeper than a few inches; more often their scrape, or "form", will be no more than a bit of flattened grass. They will have their litters in a scrape, and rely on moving the young leverets from place to place to keep them from being found by predators. Unlike rabbits, hares are born fully furred and with their eyes open, and are able to hop from a few minutes after birth.
Bottom Line?

I think that is a photo of a hare.

I think it's a rabbit. The photoshop is a pic of a rabbit with is front legs transposed to the rear and vice versa. When you look at the length of the rear legs (which are actually the front legs on a non-photoshopped bunny) you see that they most resemble those of the rabbit.

Key word here is "were". At least we know what the '07 bunny MMC will look like. Can't say as much for the new TL.

Would love to see SH-AWD in the '07! I'm not optimistic, but I guess we'll know for sure in September. Hopefully more reliable information will leak out soon. Was debating between buying '06 now or waiting for the '07. At this late date, I might as well wait and see the new one before making a decision.

A good idea. You'll pay a little more for the 07, mainly because it will be at the start of the model year, but it may be worth your while if the changes actually happen.
