http://www.leftlanenews.com/acura-tl.html More pictures
Nearly three weeks ago, Acura released a single image of its redesign 2009 TL sedan, along with some official specs. So far, the Honda subsidiary hasn’t released any further images or information. Luckily, a quick thinking photographer managed to snap a few photos of a virtually undisguised ‘09 TL at a store parking lot.
The redesigned 2009 Acura TL will arrive in showrooms this fall. The luxury sedan will be available in two distinctive versions including the first ever application of ‘Super Handling All-Wheel Drive’ (SH-AWD) on TL.
So far, details are sparse, and only a single image has been released. As previously reported, both the standard FWD and the SH-AWD model (distinguished by its quad exhaust) have been seen. When it comes to redesigns, Acura appears to be on a roll — we’ve already seen the new RL and TSX this year, and the new TL should arrive before the end of 2008, too.
In April, information leaked out of an Acura dealer meeting in New Orleans regarding the new TL. According to a source who attended the meeting, the 2009 Acura TL lineup will consist of two models: a base front-wheel drive car and an up-level all-wheel drive model. The front-driver will be powered by a 280 horsepower 3.5L V6 whereas the AWD model will receive its motivation from a 3.7L V6 producing 310 horsepower.
Despite boasting 310 horsepower and all-wheel drive, the range-topping model will not sport the Type-S nameplate. In fact, the source says that Acura will not offer a Type-S model, at least not in 2009. It remains unclear if the performance model will eventually join the lineup.
However, the SH-AWD model will sport quad-exhaust and 18 inch wheels to differentiate it from lesser TL models. Our spy photos also clearly show the car’s new SH-AWD rear differential.
Acura has promised us a new TL by the end of the year so a Los Angeles Auto Show reveal seems likely, with an on-sale date shortly after.

This thread will end up like the last one if members continue to post over and over about how much they hate the new TL. We heard you the first time, there’s no need to clutter this thread with the same old comments, bashing photochops, etc.
Anyway, more pics.

there's a difference with all this keyless entry stuff. if you're talking about keyless entry, honda/acura have this feature already a long time ago, when you press the keyless remote on your car.
there are 2 methods car companies have with the new gen intelligent key:
1. push button start (start/stop button)
2. fast start (knob which requires a person to turn like starting a normal car, but no key is necessary)
1. push button start is you can keep the key in your pocket or put the key in the cup holder or a key slot, but you press a start/stop button. the 09 Nissan Maxima has this where I put the intelligent key in the cup holder or left in my pocket and then press the start/stop button to start the car and drive away, which is one method.
the other method is found on the 09 Nissan Murano/Altima and the 08 Infiniti's, where you can have your intelligent key stored anywhere on you to open the door, but you needed to place the intelligent key in a illuminated key slot, found to the left of the steering wheel or right of steering wheel, if you don't put the intelligent key in the slot, the car won't be able to start.
2. fast key start
same as keeping an intelligent key on your pocket and still can open the door, but instead of using a push button start, there is a knob on the steering wheel to start the car, just like the old fashioned way, but you don't need to put your car key into the ignition. the current Acura RL and Nissan Rogue, Versa, and Sentra use this method. this is the method I think the new 09 TL will be taking, kind of sad based on the spy pics of the interior.
why still no push button start/stop on the 09 TL?

My grandmom has 2 on her 06 Murano. Its just as good as the push start IMO. The important part is not having to use a key. To me it doesnt matter if you push or turn as long as you get to keep your key in your pocket. I think thats what the new TL will have based on that button on the door.

In all Infiniti's you do not need to put the key in the slot to drive. You can keep it in in your pocket at all times. The same thing goes for the new Maxima, Altima, and Murano.
The slot is just a holder for the key, if you want a place to keep it.

my gf test drove the altima coupe a few weeks ago, and the salesman had the key in his hands in the backseat, and the car had a start button.
and personally, when i wish that the acuras and hondas would have keyless start, i mean an actual push start button like nissans. not the kind the RL has.

While I like my Infiniti's keyless setup, I prefer Lexus'. On my G37 you have to press a button on the door's handle to unlock the door with the key in your pocket, but the Lexus just unlocks the door automatically whenever the key comes within range of the door. The pushbutton starters are the same though, I think....

The slot is for when the battery runs low and the signal is too low to start the car. Otherwise, the use of this slot is not needed under other circumstances to start the car...either that or I've only been imagining starting my car for these past 2 years since I have not used that slot once yet since driving my infiniti.

Fellows, if all you Acura enthusiasts want is keyless start, then that's a sad stage.
Anyway, the seats look quite good. the bolsters are big. However, the front still doesn't extend. Acura really needs to think about the customers who are tall, and offer better seats in a sport package.
the shifter looks interesting. I think this is a manual shifter? Short shifter is very welcome. However wood on the shifter is NOT.
The dash is now BMW like with the hump. There are still tons of buttons. Not sure if I like them. The steering wheel looks pretty thick, but a little too big.
