I must say its funny to read the first page of this very thread and seeing how people didn't like the 3rd generation TL when the pics came out...too bland, looks too much like a maxima, to boxy, too this, too that....A sense of 'deja vu'

I honestly don't think those wheels are going to be on any production cars...I have seen the 3 sets of wheels available in Canada and NOTHING looks this hideous, I was very impressed with all 3 wheel designs. The one on the press release are legitimate, these ones, not so...MY opinion anyway....

oh gosh that closeup of the trunk is still ugly. it's like you can buy the MDX grill and just plant it on there because it's the same shape as the MDX grill. hilarious that this new TL has 2 front ends......

i'm disappointed at the side profile, doesn't look acura/honda ish at all. looks like a complete copy of the GS and 04-08 Maxima now for sure, not a good thing. advance? more like they just went back in time to 2004 and 2005, when the designs of the Maxima and GS were new. wtf??

I don't get it. Acura had the most beautiful line of cars a few years ago - remember when the 3G TL and 1G TSX came out in 2003 - everyone (both the press and the public) were so excited and praised the design and performance of these cars. Also, for a while, it looked like Acura actually found its "style". However, with this ridiculous new grille (whatever "power plenum" really means!), it has lost all credibility or any hope for an evolution of a respectable luxury brand image. Even more disappointing is the fact that the 4G TL has given up all of the distinctive design cues that everyone so loved and admired. Instead, we now have this generic design that is so derivative that it is being ridiculed by both Acura fans (or soon to be ex-fans!) and the automobile press alike. Very sadly, the new TSX is the most handsome vehicle of the bunch, and yet that is really a European Honda Accord... if Acura wants to be taken seriously then it needs to drop its current "designers" and learn some big time exterior design lessons from Infiniti and Audi.

It annoys me no end that Acura makes wonderful cars, but it just does not have the image or exterior design to match that "inner beauty". Unfortunately, in this luxury segment, image means everything and Acura is going in the wrong direction for this.

^^^yep - that's why the sales troubles started with the RL - it's the look - people just don't like it. The rest of the car is great - the design is just not there.

Anyways, i really dont think the design of the car is that bad. Sure the grill is over the top, but to be honest im kinda glad they tried to be bold this time.

From the looks of these new pics, I have to say I don't mind the side profile, and maybe the rear end isn't quite as bad, but who knows. These aren't the best quality pics so it's hard to tell. The front, however, is still just as horrendous as the first time I saw it. The grille is just way too big, it looks like an enormous hooked beak or something. Ugh, why did they do that to this car. RonJon or someone needs to make a new grille/bumper, then maybe it won't look so bad.

Even if they had made the grille smaller, like on the TSX, it wouldn't be so bad. But this thing just destroys the front end.

from the side profile i'm also thinking Infiniti M35/M45, it's a bolder design, but it's been done by infiniti and lexus first.
