Oh to the contrary my parrot friend. Your buddy presented me no argument for me to escape from in the first place. He pulled his 'V card' and Vag'd down to deferring from the topic at hand and instead focused on me. Kind of like what you're doing right now: contributing absolutely nothing productive and only instigating drama by repeating things that other people have already said, over and over and over again. And to top it off, not a single remark was directed at you. If only your Scion was as fast as your willingness to start drama, drama queen. Get a life.

I see where you are coming from. It's true that you are expected to be able to answer most questions from the media. But then this is TOV we are talking about, some of the questions are more interesting than usual.
I think for most people, being the chief whatever means you are the Mr. Know it all. But from my experience, being the chief guy means you need to be able to see the big picture. For instance, the chief engineer would probably don't know what's the wattage of the turn signal bulb is, what the part number is for the valve stem, etc. You simply can't know every single little thing.

Yes - used in the sense that Acura used it in their press release. If the wood was real - they'd use the term genuine or authentic - like they did when the RL had real wood...or like any other car maker that puts real wood veneer in their interiors.
But to try to argue that I'm wrong by saying that LED accent lighting doesn't mean the light is fake - that's really desperate. That was what your pal was doing. Doesn't work here. I guess he thinks people who talk with Jersey accents are faking it too?

No one can know everything all the time. But he should have review some of the data sheet he received prior the unveil. Then he can forget about it and move on to the next big thing.
It is all about preparation. you are right, for the most people if your Chief Engineering does not even know the specs of TLX, then who would?

As a chief engineer, who was in charge of unveiling a brand new car, he should have known every single little thing about the car.
If you are a chief engineer of ANY PRODUCT, you should know everything about it, period.
With that said, it's funny how he can't convert from litres to US gallons. That should be fairly basic IMO unless you want an accurate conversion.

As far as I know all TL's had fake wood, its always been that way, so whats the big deal if the TLX has it too. What do you really think its going to make a huge dent in sales because its fake? As far as I'm concerned, remove the wood (fake or real) altogether, and replace with carbon fiber, aluminum, etc.

I agree. But my response was more related to what JS+BRZ said as shown below, where he focused on "everything" and "every little thing."
Here were your quotes buddy:

Who is extreme? Me or you? I wasn't the one who said "everything" or "every little thing."
See my post (#8766):
As you can see, I already covered that point and I criticized Mat for that.

Yeah, I posted that to give you a lesson on why someone on his level should be working like a VP of Marketing. This is some basic stuff you learn at school, if you major in any type of business side.
You said you are an mechanical engineer, and it's hard to know everything about the product.
Yeah, that's because you don't get to talk to PR. You R&D the products.
The executive officers like that guy must be able to answer whatever questions the interviewers throw at them.
No idiots will ask him what's the part number for valve stems nor what's the wattage for signal bulb. Who would ask that??? Maybe you?

last time I checked, which was yesterday, the definition(s) of 'accent' doesn't contain a meaning equating to 'fake.' of course that doesn't mean the wood in the tlx is real, but the word 'accent' doesn't mean 'fake.' I've read the press release that doesn't say 'fake wood trim', so I honestly don't know for sure.

they will make up some fancy term to make the fake wood sound nice.
If it was real, you can bet your ass that Acura will advertise it like it is REAL wood.

Who cares? Why does it matter so much to you? If Phile thinks its fake then let him think that. If you think its real, you are entitled to think that. Please give it a rest. Nobody else cares.

Hey I'm not much of an expert at argumentative theory, but I guess that was a straw man fallacy he attempted there?

I'm sorry you perceive I haven't been doling out my sarcasm in an even enough fashion for your tastes. If you are going to hold me accountable for such quasi-omniscience, perhaps you'd do me the courtesy of keeping score on each side's barbs so I know when to jump in with a sufficiently cutting remark? Shall I clear my comments with you first, as well?

I see no turnabout...but, whatever. Besides, I don't hate the TLX (another strawman), I'm disappointed in it and consider it another missed opportunity by Acura management. Do you see the difference?

Ditto on bringing the real aluminum and real carbon fiber for your "red carpet athlete" Ackavetti!!!

We do not disagree with that because we all know most likely that is what it is. Fake wood.
We are perfect ok with fake wood since most of us don't like wood anyways. but someone has to jump in and say "how do you for sure it is fake if it is not saying it is fake"
