Feel free to expand on your commentary, because I'm so eager to hear about your opinions on how I spend my money.

I bought a 5.2 second car for 38k, just as capable as an S4 for much less money and is much more reliable. You are implying the whole world is laughing at anyone who rocks a power plenum. Oh, gosh - like I really give a fuck what other people think about my commuter. I'm the idiot who could buy an RS7 but chooses not to, I'd rather spend my money on nice family vacations.

Congrats on your underpowered, no backseat, toy car. I'm glad you can fit all your Lego friends in it.

I bought a warmed over Accord because I couldn't really afford an S4. I know people think my car is a joke so I compensate by insulting other people's cars at random. I can't afford an RS7 but I'm going to mention it here to sound cool. My TL is better then an R8!!!!!
Fixed.

It's more of a 3 seater, I've had 2 6'+ Lego friends in there at once before. Maybe you just need to start an exercise program.

Oh, please. Calm the fuck down, you're the one who started the name calling. You don't know me and I'm not going to get in an e-schlong fight on teh interwebz. Feel free to troll my next next next...NSX thread.

I never "insulted" your car. You are free to share your opinions on my car and I am free to share mine on yours. I said you have a nice car, even if it is a bit plain and underpowered. If you are "insulted" by that, then that's your problem and you have thin skin.

Back on topic, I am looking forward to what the TLX looks like in the flesh and am curious to hear if Acura plans on a 6MT. If they stick with a slush box and the SH-AWD version, I may look elsewhere for a replacement.

From what I remember about the 4G the 2009 was auto only but the 2010 had a 6MT. I would say if the manual isn't there this summer there's a chance it's around the corner.

You bought arguably the worst looking Acura ever produced (ZDX might top it) and you think I care that you have an opinion on automotive design?? If you're going to be a cry baby every time someone points out something dumb you said on "teh interwebz" then maybe you shouldn't post.

You are the one with your panties in a bunch because I said your BRZ is nice, but plain looking and underpowered.

What I see is a bunch of peeps who are disappointed in the TLX because whoa (shocker) it is blander than the show car. The TLX hasn't even been driven or looked upon in living color. Some of you guys are simply piling on when Acura has finally acknowledged they have design/marketing/product issues and are looking to rectify it.

I never claimed to drive the most beautiful car. It is a pragmatic choice made after driving one and realizing it is a better car than many give it credit for. I could care less if you approve or not, just calling out your hypocrisy, Mr. Bland car driver.

I'm done with this semi-amusing tit for tat and am moving on. Please let me know if you want me to troll any of your BRZine threads...

Back on topic,

I think most people are disappointed with the production images because the concept car wasn't exactly outlandish and those bumpers could have easily made it onto the car. Maybe they're saving them for an appearance package. And the wheels don't look too luxurious either.

Why are people arguing about the looks of cars? You guys realize that is 100% subjective right?

I don't know, I think it's less an argument over preferences (in terms of styling) and more a debate over whether Acura screwed up by scaling back the styling too much to be competitive in the lux-sport sedan segment.

Sure but there's nothing wrong with expressing what you like. If most people think it's nice then it's nice, if more people think it's ugly then it's an ugly car. But you can still buy it if you like it and be happy that it looks good to you.

That is some deeply flawed logic. There is no possible way to even measure that. "Most People" Most people of what? AcuraZine? The public? Bimmerpost?PriusChat?

More like tens of thousands.

Hyundai expects the new Genesis to do around 30k/yr. in sales.

Maybe Hyundai will eventually get around to doing a Genesis sub-brand but even w/o it the Genesis is outselling the Lexus GS and Infiniti M.

Granted, the 1G Genesis has the traditional BMW-type Hofmeister kinked greenhouse, which is why the Accord, with a similar type greenhouse and similarly shaped taillights to the Genesis looks eerily like the Genesis from a 3Q hind view.

The TL also has a Hofemeister kinked greenhouse.

Now, the TSX and the ILX have a Lexus IS-inspired greenhouse.

More like the Impala than a true fastback like the A7.

But since you brought up Audi, Honda/Acura has emulated Audi when it comes to taillight shapes.

Civic - old Audi A4
MDX/RDX/ILX - Audi kinked taillights

And then there are others - like the Volvo-inspired D-pillar lights on the CR-V.

^^ It's just that a lot of us have moved on from the brand. We'll take our jabs because we know Acura is more than capable of producing a competing product, not just a "good enough" product or a polarizing product that does the brand no justice.

While it saddens me to see the brand stagnate and in some cases devolve. What can we do but bitch and vote with our wallets.

I have hope for the TLX. I'm really wishing for a hi-po version of this car. Maybe even a dumbed down version of the RLX eSH-AWD hybrid set up and see how it performs.

I see them taking baby steps to address things we've been saying on this board for nearly a decade. Is it enough? For some us it never will be, for others it's directional progress.

Time and sales will tell if they made the right changes..

Actually, design-wise, I'm a bit underwhelmed by the new Genesis sedan.

What they seem to have improved upon are 2 areas which were in crucial need of improvement - quality of interior materials (got rid of the silver painted plastic), altho the design of the dash is a bit on the stodgy-side and improved driving dynamics (the old Genesis is more of a luxo-cruiser).

Don't think the new Genesis will threaten the CTS as the king of the hill when it comes to driving enjoyment, but it doesn't have to be as most buyers in the segment aren't looking for that.

Now, all Cadillac needs to do is to upgrade the CUE system and freshen up the back end of the CTS (esp. the taillight shape/design).

And there in lies the problem, they are baby steps, which isnt near good enough especially when they themselves have said for quite some time now that they need to re-image themselves.

Acura has announced that the 2014 New York Auto Show will see the arrival of the production TLX – the sedan that will replace both the TL and TSX in the company's lineup. The TLX was already previewed at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show as a near-production concept model, meaning we already have a very solid idea of what the 2015 model will look like.

What we didn't know, was that Acura has finally gotten on board with some advanced powertrains, rather than just plucking stuff from the Honda parts bin. Okay, that's kind of a lie. We've seen both of the TLX's engines in previous Honda products - a 2.4-liter, VTEC four-cylinder and a 3.5-liter VTEC V6 from the Civic Si and Accord, respectively – but the transmissions will be totally new.

First, an eight-speed, dual-clutch automatic will be paired with the base four-pot. The V6, meanwhile, will get a nine-speed automatic. Unfortunately, there's no mention of a manual gearbox. Acura's Precision All-Wheel Steer will be standard on the front-drive variants for both engines, while the 3.5-liter V6 will also be available with the brand's Super Handling All-Wheel Drive.

While we'll likely have to wait until April 16 for all the details on the TLX to arrive, we'll admit that it sounds like Acura is screwing together a competent sedan, based on the powertrains alone. We'll have much more on the TLX and all the other vehicles debuting in New York, as we get closer to the show. Until then, scroll down for the full press release from Acura.
