Yeah i saw the initial ones, we need real reviews!

They were allowed one lap around the motegi and it was generally positive but not enough to make real comments (this was the jist of what i compiled from several of those impressions)

I saw it in person today. I was underwhelmed. It just looked so bland in the flesh and the front looked like a Chrysler

I think Acura will again WOW us just like they did in 2005 but this time I hope they plan on staying on top of their competition, modifying their designs as needed.

Surprised no one has posted the pic of the test mule yet.

Looks kinda boring in black.

It's not.

Compare the body lines and creases, tail light, rear bumper lines, trunk lid lines, etc to the RLX concept.

They already did a comparison on Temple of Vtec

This test mule vs RLX Concept:

This test Mule vs Accord test mule:

While they look somewhat similar, they are also clearly different.

Agreed, if nobody on an Acura board can tell whether its an Accord or an RLX, thats a bad sign.

Isn't it obvious that that's the RLX prototype shown earlier this year?

Boring as all hell design but clearly the RLX.

Doesn't Acura have a separate product design styling studio in California, which was intentionally set up to differential Acura products from Honda's ?

True...AND it would hearken back to when the KB1 debuted during 2004 sporting an appearance similar to the 7G (03-05) Accord.

And that's because the Japanese team has always had it's way with the RL. Ignoring what AHM wanted to make the car really successful. Since the Honda Accord (or Saber/Inspire) would be sold next to the Honda Legend in the showrooms, why wouldn't it bear a family resemblance to it's stablemate?

I saw a 5 Series GT the other day. This was the only time in my life where I wished it got into a fender bender to improve it's looks.

who really knows why that styling decision was made? (rhetorical question)

If the upcoming $50K Acura RLX is gonna resemble the $30K Honda Accord, then it looks like the RLX is gonna doomed, again.

I dont see problem of RL and Accord looking similar.
look at
basic $35k 328i vs $60k fully loaded 335I. not including AWD.
or $45k 528i vs $75k BMW 550i.
or $65k LS460 vs over $100k LS600.
335I & 550i will not give you superior fuel economy compared there basic version.
Now fully loaded V6 Accord $33K. Fully loaded RL with AWD hybrid $65K.
RL gives you AWD/Hybrid for superior handling & acceleration with 4 cylinder fuel economy with superior NVH. Much higher grade interior, content, LED lighting.

Comprehension fail.

RLX is a luxury flagship car. Accord is not.

BMW 328i and 335i are both luxury cars... they're just different trims from the same series. Same with the BMW 528i and 550i. Same with the Lexus LS460 and LS600.

Would you still not see a problem if, say, a Mini was made to look like the BMW 750i? How about a Toyota Camry that looks like a Lexus LS460 AWD? How about a Nissan Altima that looks like an Infiniti M56? How about a VW Jetta that looks like an Audi A8? How about a Chrysler that looked like a Mercedes S550?

Accord is flagship of Honda now.
Accord and Legend always sell side by side around the world.

how much difference is between $50k 528 and $90k 750Li interior and which one looks better. 7 series is flagship. I can bet there will be more diffference between Accord and Legend Interior. See dual screen RLX interior.

You can clearly see Euro Accord influence on RLX but practically zero influence of TL. Just enlarged tail lights of Euro Accord

The center stack is replaced by touch screen display. Every thing else design wise is similar.

You have serious problem with what i am writing. Lexus and Infiniti are separate brands in EU. Acura is not. so Altima-Camry cannot have same shape as Infiniti-Lexus as they will not be in same showroom.

See CRV. it is more upscale than RDX. LED/HID combo on headlights. shark fin antenna like Acura. RDX has that cheap shape of ILX.
I simply cannot imagine that next Euro Accord will be that much lower than RLX as current top the line Euro Accord with options has less than 10% price difference with Honda Legend that is Euro Accord without SH-AWD.

What about a jetta that looks like a audi a4, passat that looks like a audi a8, camry that looks like a lexus gs or es, or Avalon that looks like ls.

To me these are about as close as the accord rlx comparison. IMHO.

All manufactures do it. MINI just doesnt have a full line up of cars. I think BMW is kinda like Honda and acura combined no lower end brand and higher end branding and mini kinda stands on its own. Great BMW branding.

I think Honda is more like bmw in europe since there is no acura.

Just my take.
