No, but same as MDX ! LOL
Here is some more info:
The difference is that the MDX and Pilot systems are simpler implementations which are really programmed only to improve driving in low traction situations. the SH-AWD system has been optimized to maximize handling. The good news is that means this system is still very light weight (as far as awd systems go).

Here is the statement I was looking for:
NOTE: It should be noted that though it carries a different name, this system is virtually identical to the VTM-4 system currently found in the MDX and Pilot. The differences lie largely in the programming of the logic to allow for the left to right rear torque biasing
:P :P :P :P

So what this tells me is that Acura is trying to find ways to convince the RWD-fan-world that RWD is not necessarily the only way to make a car handle as as sports car should. That's assuming that this new system will make this car handle like one.

Sounds great. This car should come in two versions 3.5 & 4.2 to fill a gap. To be honest I really don't care too much for the LS/Q45/7Series/A8 battle. Even though the LS have been king the best car in that group of cars it’s definitely the most boring car also. Every time I see a LS on the rode I want fall the sleep. To be honest I prefer A8 out that list. I guess I’m different. I think the RL can be in the gs/5series/A6/E or LS/7series/A8 it really doesn’t matter. Shit I’ll drive the old RL right now.

Those sketches look great. I luv the agressive stance. The only thing I don't like is the two thick horizontal chrome lines they copied off the Nissan Fuga... it looks alot better on the Fuga. They lost a lil something in the translation.

Is RL supposed to be a sports car?

New RL
The sketches look great. I was surprised to see how aggressive the lines look. I thought Honda would be more conservative. I have a feeling the actual car will be a bit toned down from the sketches.
The rear is sort of a combination of the Accord coupe, BMW 5/7.
The NYIAS looks like it will have some great debuts!
This new AWD system sounds very promising. I wonder when/if this will trickle down to the TL and TSX eventually.

WATCH THIS VIDEO. If you look quick, you can see that the Accord in the video has a significant redesign vs. the current model. It looks almost like an Elantra, but I'm thinking that maybe Honda will put the SHAWD system into the Accord when they facelift (and since the tail has been getting a lot of criticism, that would probably be the focus of the facelift)

That may be the new RL too. It's a Legend in Japan, not an Acura !

Acura RL prototype to make world debut at New York - - Source: Autoweek
A prototype version of Acura's new RL luxury performance sedan, featuring a ground-breaking all-wheel-drive system and a new styling direction, will make its world debut at next week's New York International Auto Show.
The RL prototype is said to closely resemble Acura's upcoming, all-new 2005 RL luxury performance sedan, which is set to be introduced this fall. The RL prototype features Acura’s new Super-Handling All-Wheel-Drive System (SH-AWD) among several other industry-first technologies, according to Acura.
The SH-AWD system distributes optimum torque not only between the front and rear wheels but also between the left and right rear wheels. Acura says the result is cornering performance that responds faithfully to driver input while providing a neutral steering feel and enhanced traction on dry or wet surfaces. It's still unclear whether the production RL will come with SH-AWD as standard equipment or as an option.
To complement the car’s upgraded handling capabilities, Acura gave the RL prototype a more powerful engine than the current model. Reports have centered around a 300-hp V6 as the main powerplant. A wider stance and a new exterior look, highlighted by a pronounced wedge shape with a long, swooping hood and a short trunk lid, are among the key design cues.

Theres another VERY important distinction from VTM-4 imo, The forward/rear bias ranges from 70/30 to 30/70. That means the RL wont be in a "FWD only mode" ever!

I want it on it that way they might put a bigger engine on it.
it will be called HSC-SH-AWD

MDX starts out in AWD mode and with WOT. I know this because I burned rubber with all four tires ! Once you get going it reverts back to FWD. RL will be the same.......

HiyoSilverStarr:
VTM-4 (AWD) is around ! It's been in the production of the MDX for the past 4 years ! Does it burn lot's of gas ? I think not, my 4,500 lb MDX with a 260 hp 3.5 L engine gets great mileage ! It happens to weigh 1500 lbs. more than the current RL.:P
It's really called "Electronic All Wheel Drive" as oppose to traditional 4WD. Honda Pilot is 4WD, whereas the Acura MDX is Electronic All Wheel Drive. It is mostly Front wheel drive though.......Pilot, you would have to stop and engage it into 4WD, where as the MDX is all Electronic ! Come and goes as needed...........

The new RL will adopt the same system with some tweaks and improvements but really geared toward highway conditions as opposed to "OFF ROAD" conditions.
Hope this clears it up ! It will be great when most of the models offer this system, because its great ! :P

No one wants their 50k car to have anything to do with a 25k one. It's lame and that is part of why Acura is not taken seriously with the big nameplates. Those little mistakes really hurt a car's image.
By the way, WHO IN THE BLUE MOON HELL R U???? :noob:

Yeah maybe you should write Honda and tell them that if they change the name of VTEC for their Acura line sales will skyrocket. Plus spread the word to BMW and MB that buy bringing out less expensive cars they will run off all their customers because of guilt by association. God forbid you drive an S class and some poor man down the strret bought an A class or c class even. Park an ES330 next to a camry and TL next to an Accord, see the difference. :sqnteek: Ill make sue I run right out and spend the extra $10-15K for the LX470 over the Landcruiser( Toyota really worked on these 2 so there was no confusion you bought a Lexus) GET FUCKING REAL :pfawk:

The GS 330 will not share the Camry V-6. It is an all new V-6. The ES/RX are based off the Camry so it is natual to share the engine.
Lexus starting in 2001 no longer uses Toyota emblems anywhere on the car. With Lexus being sold in Japan in 2005 and with a new design direction, the 2 brands will get further apart (helping some of the complaints of the 2 being similar in some aspects).

I am not the fucking idiot who wrecked my car when I was piss drunk and trying to drive. Does that make sense to you.
Or here try this:
Toyota = Lexus
Honda = Acura
Nissan = Infiniti
Vtec = Toyota's blatant rip off, vvti
1SICKLEX = ASSHAT ( do the caps help?)
Understand
Gav, I apologize for arguing with this idiot in your forum.
