Smile RDX

I would love to have this on the market. I like the CRV's size and it certainly fills a need as it is still a hot seller and I see tons of them on the road. But for my needs it's under powered (needs more like ~200-215HP V6), needs a much nicer interior (new Accord or TSX) with less hard plastics, and needs more comfort features like power/heated seats, dual zone heat/AC, shiftable auto trans, heated mirrors. The obvious choice would be to make it an Acura as the CRV doesn't need to go upscale to sell.

ONE MORE THING...GIVE IT PAINTED BUMPERS AND FOG LIGHTS!!!

Most SUVs and Crossovers these days are just big wagons. You don't want to call your new vehicle a "wagon"? Call it a "crossover", it'll sell more that way. (And somehow, the buyers don't realize or don't want to admit they're just buying a wagon...are they in denial?)

Agreed. However, I think the aversion to "wagon" has to do with the unfortunate association of "wagon" with "slathered in fake wood panelling". Perhaps one day people will come to understand that "crossover" is a synonym for "high CG, overweight and underpowered".

I just don't understand why we have to wait to 06 or 07 for this thing?? It will be at least the spring of 06 before it hits the streets which is more than 2 years away. I though Acura needed another SUV now. Other companies seem to pushing out new models quarterly?? I mean WTF?

Then again what can we expect from a company that left the Integra in production for 8 years, the RL for what 10, and the NSX for another 13 or so.

Perhaps they could spin that into a new marketing campaign...

Fast cars from the world's slowest moving auto company!

We plod so you can zip!

Go ahead, take it for a spin, we'll be right here when you get back.

Buy this car and we'll sell you a replacement just like it in four years!

Yeah, that's the ticket.

Like I said in the other thread about the TSX commercial. Acura needs a new marketing stagedy. You may be the ticket major

I think the MDX design will translate pretty well to a smaller package. The size would be pretty decent and the price will probably be pretty good for first time Acura buyers.

Junkster, who thinks its being released very late.

I read over at TOV is was 06 or 07. But hey if you know better......
But even 06 is a ways off. Unless its a MY06 released in the fall of 05? I don't think thats ever been specified though.

He does'nt specify wheather that 6 Sp tranny will be an Auto or Manual. But a Manual tranny in a Luxo SUV is highly unlikely.

Which one Justin?

A manual tranny in a RDX? Cool although I hope a Auto will also be offered, which I'm 1000% sure it will.

BMW is moving downmarket, so Gilbo has little to say about Acura here.

A smaller acura SUV would be nice, and save some gas. maybe about 32-34K and undercut X3? Wonder how people like X3.

Thx Domn, it's the lyrics from a song from the late 60's that came to mind (click the link and hear the song). I think that gilbo edited his post #100121 to remove that comment during the time that I was writing my post. Makes it look like I'm putting words in his mouth, but he really did post it, honest!

Actually I was being sarcastic. I edited Gilbo's post. I'll be damed if he's going to ruin another otherwise great thread in which Justin has decided to give us some great info on the RD-X and future versions of the TSX.

EDIT: Do you guys really think Gilbo would say that about himself? I was far too nice.

I think it looks promising. The 6-speed transmission sounds very nice. I honestly wasn't expecting a manual to even be available with this thing.

They love it. SUVs are hot. Only thing to make them hotter is to stick a BMW logo on the hood. This Acura SUV should go well with the release of the 2nd gen MDX.

that could be the SUV i've been waiting for, and probably would trade in my Tsx for that. that could be a direct competitor for the BMW X3!

I know it will be AWD, but it needs at least 260hp!

I thought that manual isn't even possible with IMA. Maybe it's because IMA will be on rear wheels. That's definitely a first! Can't wait!
