The interior is a snooze fest.
Just doesn't do it for me. the design wasn't that radical when they showed the concept and now with Ford unveiling the new GT, it seems like a boring beige accord.

I thought the front wheels were driven by the engine as well, but I guess they are solely powered by the electric motors.
Honestly, looking at the power/drivetrain shots posted by Yumcha, this car has me scared... That's going to be one hell of an expensive car to repair if it goes down the same road Acura has been trending with the TLX/RLX, with all the recalls/issues. I don't foresee this being super reliable like the 1G NSX, of days past, thereby dropping the used market pricing much faster than the 1G.
However, 155k base model pricing is ridiculous. I don't see the base model having the ceramic brakes, plus god knows whatever else that the production car show model had, which I'm guessing was the loaded up one. What's it going to top out at, 180k? 190k? dayum.
I was originally thinking it would have equal torque numbers to the horsepower numbers (I was thinking 560 and 560, before the unveil), which really shouldnt be all that hard to do with the motors and twin turbo setup. I guess time will tell.
No weight numbers, no torque numbers, no actual pricing = bullshit reveal!!

What a let down! Acura should be embarrassed that they didn't release official specs today. All this teasing for years, to only provide another tease.
Sounds like this falls into the $155-175k ball park, which is getting awfully crowded lately. I think many buyers with that type of cash will be looking to the German, British, and American options first.
The interior is pretty weak for a $155k+ car. The concept interior was much nicer and more elegant.

The GTR is still the better bargain regardless... but god damn that NSX wins in the beauty contest...

based on GTR's #s, it should not be as fast as it is. But in reality, other than some of the hyper cars, GTR is pretty much the king in 1/4 mile and on the track.
So the NSX will really have to be something special to be anywhere close to GTR.

Thoughts:
- looks about perfect. I think in person, it will be more mesmerizing.
- there are comments regarding the materials use on the chassis to ensure they can evolve the design. An NSX-R is all but guaranteed.
- The motor layout is basically Mclaren MP12-C (I wonder if McLaren will switch to this power unit instead of the 3.8 they use now)... I also wonder if Honda consulted McLaren at all on this car
Its too bad about the price but there is just no way it could pack this tech, at their volume anywhere near $100k.

AWD, torque vectoring and inside wheel brake torquing.
3500-ish pounds.
That's NISMO GTR territory for sure.

Saw this on Jalopnik:
Aside form the interior and headlights I think it looks quite nice.
"We are proud to introduce the 2009 Acura NSX here at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show!"

If they announce the specs now, then other manufacturers can easily increase output to beat the NSX.
With turbo, it might not be too difficult for Honda to up the numbers if necessary.

I think that's what Ted Klaus is implying with him not announcing any specs - that the NSX will be faster than its actual numbers suggest, much like the GT-R. We will see about that.

I believe that the Honda/McLaren relationship is only F1 at this point. I'd be shocked if they worked together on a road car. The NSX competes with the upcoming McLaren Supersport in terms of price/performance.

By the time this comes out, the next R8 will be on sale and will probably be faster, lighter, and cheaper. The NSX had a lot of promise but now it is in a battlefield where other cars present a compelling alternative.
$170K gets into base 911 Turbo range.
This car should be competing at the $100-120K range.
I don't like the GT at all. This looks nicer.

front end looks better than the concepts did, interior not so much...
Without knowing any other information, I give it 3.75 out of 5 stars.

I guess it's easy to speculate w/o seeing any numbers yet, but I think they hit a home run, then pulled a hammy rounding first base...

My understanding is that they want to see what the next 458 will have in March (and some other cars) before confirming the numbers. The first NSX when it first came out had 250hp, but Ferrari later came out with the 348 to replace the 328, and Honda had to add VTEC to the 1G NSX to boost the power to 270hp.
If they announce the specs now, then other manufacturers can easily increase output to beat the NSX.

No, Honda's logic is that they want the press to drive it before giving out the numbers. The numbers thanks to Honda's idiotic choice of HP measurement will make them look poorer on paper than in reality.

If that truly is Honda's logic, it is IMO, stupid. Push to be the new benchmark...why always follow? If that's the case, they may as well never release the car cuz, well...oh snap, Ferrari released the next gen. Italia...we should WAIT FOR THE next-next gen Italia...no wait...the next-next-next gen. Italia. No...the next-next-next-next-to-infinity Italia.

Orders arent even being taken until July and deliveries MAY happen by November. As an Acura enthusiast and Honda shareholder, I'm annoyed.

Here's a sad thought for Honda. Would you, the customer, want to buy a proven platform (the 911) or a completely brand new car from a bazillion years of concepting (including a great big bonfire in the middle of the Nurburgring) without a track record at all?

I agree. I think this car will only attract the hardcore Honda enthusiasts at first and then struggle to sell after year 1. Just because the previous NSX was great it does not mean this new car will be.
It is NSX in name only. Whether it can live up to that name is still to be determined.
I am bitter as well. After all these years I was expecting more. I wonder if they would have been better off launching the V10 version they had 5-6 years ago. They wouldn't have had nearly as much competition.

I agree with the idea that Porsche will be a major obstacle for the NSX. NSX needs to be a special driving car (not Acura marketing, either).

Anyone else get really tired of the "corporate speak" in that video? For me, the especially nauseating thing was the repeated reference to Acura's "core values"...as if they've elucidated what those are and how they've shaped the company in the past, not to mention why we should care what they are now.
Oh, and the sycophantic appealing to the American market had to be a turnoff to anyone outside the U.S.
