You have a stage 2 set up right? You'd certainly start to reel him in when you get over 100. Question is how far ahead is he at that point. Either way probably not the performance though at higher speeds the difference between the P and the LR is far less apparent.

Yeah stage 2. I was reeling him in well before 100, he just didn't want to keep going past 80. The instant torque was very apparent at the jump though, he would pull about a half car before our speeds would equalize and then I'd start to pull.

@TylerT makes a bit more power than me in his S4 and raced a M3P and walked it every time. I think the vids are in his thread.

It's a bit buried but, here's the video:

Even with an all out launch, I couldn't catch a M3P by the end of the quarter mile hence why we did rolls only.

M3P had no chance from a 40 / 60, but absolutely walked me on a 20.

Yep, at higher speeds it's not as fast as it is at lower speeds. This is the shitty part of a single speed gearbox, no mechanical advantage at higher speeds. This is why the Taycan has a two speed lol. Doesn't surprise me at all that you guys are faster at those speeds, you're making a little less power but a lot less weight. From a dig, you'd get left for dead though.

That's the beauty of electric cars though .. you don't feel bad beating on them .

I'm pretty reluctant to launch my car .. I literally never do it.

I'd be reluctant to even turn the key to start your car for fear of it blowing up...

If I drove it daily I’d probably see the reality of what makes B5 S4 ownership B5 S4 ownership.

Otherwise, 20k hard miles since the motor was out 4 years ago .. boost / fueling hasn’t changed ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

New Acura Integra To Make Timely Comeback In 2022

It’s always cause for celebration when a model makes a comeback. And by summer next year, an all-new version of the iconic Acura Integra will land in showrooms powered by a new hybrid unit and featuring all new styling.

Honda’s luxury Acura brand will soon relaunch its popular sports model after the 4th generation went out of production in 2006. To stimulate market interest in the new model, Acura has revealed a couple of teaser images of body parts like the headlight surrounds and tail lights seen here.

The new car will be offered with a choice of 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic and employ a new hybrid unit with an expected electric version to come at least a year later. While Honda has not elaborated on what that hybrid power plant might be, 1 source suggests that the car may get the same 1.5-liter turbo from the new Civic but with an e:HEV hybrid unit bolted on for extra power and better efficiency. Power would clear 220hp. That would generate power over 200 hp but we’ll have to wait for more details from Acura at a later date.

Acura fans may query why the brand is planning to relaunch a sporty hatchback in an era when SUVs and crossovers are taking over the market, and the answer to that is simply that the Integra helped to put Honda and Acura on the map from the 1990s. So bringing this car back, with the right environmentally-friendly powertrains of course, is not only a bold move but the right one. A racy 300-hp plus turbocharged Integra Type R version is also expected to join the lineup by 2024.

The new reborn Integra will be an all-new model for 2023 with production due to start in 2022. Expect a price tag of around $35,000.

^ Was it a slow news day at Forbes? I don't see anything new that we didn't know over a month ago.

Acura announced three months ago that the Integra would be returning to its lineup. The automaker followed up its announcement with a series of teaser images that revealed quite a bit of the new model, though we’ll get our first – and best – look at it yet next week when Acura debuts the Integra Prototype in Los Angeles. The reveal is set for Thursday, November 11, at 8:35 p.m. EST.

The company is following the reveal path laid by the 2022 Honda Civic, which first debuted as a “Prototype” ahead of the production car’s reveal, though the changes between prototype and production were minimal. We expect the Integra Prototype to follow suit, looking quite like the production version, which could look a lot like the new Civic.

Teaser images and spy shots allude to the new Integra sharing more than just its platform with the Honda model. A teaser image of the interior highlighted the manual gearbox and the center console, which look a lot like the new Civic Hatchback’s interior. However, it was the spy shots that really emphasized their similarities. There are differences, with the Integra wearing a unique front bumper and lower grille opening. The photos also appeared to show the Acura with a pointier front end.

Acura’s August announcement was big news, and there will be many curious to see what form the new Integra will take. Evidence is mounting that it will share quite a bit with the new Civic, though we expect Acura to add its own twist to the formula to help it stand out from its Honda sibling. We’ll get our first look at it next week and hopefully learn what will make the new Integra its own unique model. We expect to see the interior, too. Tune into the livestream next week for more.

Well, I'm pleasantly surprised with the specs. The looks though...not a fan. Can't win 'em all I suppose. Let's see what the Type S/R will be...

What I think we'll see:
Base Integra: 1.5T from the Si mated to the 8DCT

What wouldn't surprise me becuase Acura can sometimes be a dumbass:
Base Integra: 1.5T from the Si mated to the CVT
Type S Integra: 2.0T from the TLX/RDX mated to the 10AT.

IDK, I don't hate the look. Not sure I'm awestruck either though. I think the yellow isn't doing it any favors.

Really want to see the interior. That will tell me if it's just a fancy Civic.

Because Acura marketing is (once again) full of hot shit.

The only thing I can think of is if they come out with an ILX that’s basically the exact same thing but in a true sedan form rather than this “hatchback”. Maybe position them similar to how MB positions the A-Class and CLA-Class. Normally I’d say Acura is too small to have that much market segmentation, but if these are just very lightly modified Civics perhaps they can pull it off, especially with production of the hatchback model moving from Swindon to Ohio.

Reserving judgement until I drive it, but I'm just not sure what the market is for this type of vehicle. The ILX had terrible sales numbers and this to me appears to just be a rebadged ILX.

Really hope they release a GSR version at least.

So they decided to make a downmarket ZDX successor... This should go well.

the yellow and 1980/90's sticker on the side were so not 2020's

Curious if Honda/Acura will make a Acura Type-R with the CTR components (front suspension and 2.0T motor)

At least they put a manual in this one. Good option for those that want a Civic Si but with actual luxury features? I have no idea. I was sincerely hoping for more punch out of the motor given that this was advertised to be taking them back to their performance roots or some shit like that.

At this point it's become patently clear that when Acura says performance, they mean "driving feel" and not power. The Integra could see a slight bump in power over the Si, but I wouldn't expect more than 10hp more; certainly not enough to offset the extra weight.

Even driving feel isn't really there. I tried the new revised TLX and it drives like a boat compared to its rivals. Never driven the Type S but based on reviews, it's much of the same plus it gets spanked by prior generation competitors. Acura really needs to try harder and stop just phoning stuff in. An Integra Type R with the CTR drivetrain plus some extra juice would be a winner. One that adds AWD would be even more of a winner. A TLX-S with less weight and more power would be a winner.

I think it says a lot that the things that top his list of the car being "sporty and purposeful" is the color and the black accents. Not the engine, not the suspension, not the chassis.

Because we all know yellow cars are faster and handle better.

And you know the "around $30k" version isn't going to have those wheels, painted calipers, two tone paint, or the diffuser and/or spoiler. The look of this car is barely hanging on with all those adds, it's going to be a suck-fest in it's base trim.

And still no interior shots. Sure it's a "prototype" but what are they hiding....

After a night to think about it, I think other than the looks, this car meets or exceeds expectations. We have to keep in mind that this is the base Integra, and plays the role of the RS/LS/GS models. The DC4 RS/LS/GS actually made less power than the Civic Si of the time, so this is already a win in that department. And when you compare it to the competition, I think it does alright. It competes and undercuts the A3, CLA250, 228i GC, etc. and none of those cars are particularly sporty. None of them offer an LSD, and most importantly none of them offers a 6MT. It may be down on power compared to the competition, but in terms of driving dynamics I'm sure it'll be better. I don't think there is any other sporty premium car in this class or price point.

That said, I can only hope all the performance hype is being saved for the Type S. Put the CTR's drivetrain, brakes, and suspension bits into this, price it at around $45K, and even if it's not as fast in a straight line as the S3 or CLA35 or M235i GC, I expect it will still come out on top in every car magazine comparison test. The win is there for the taking; they just better not muck it up by trying to "protect" the CTR.

Its very competitive considering the price and interior space based on Civic. consider the wait time of Model 3 and rising prices. i dont think there is any competition left. Germans will simply withdraw at this price point.

I thought Acura finally turned the corner when they first introduced the new RDX, which i still like a lot when compare to BMW X3 or Q5...

But damn.. Acura always magically find a way to fuck shit up....

It s like Honda Insight and Acura ILX had a baby and they named it Integra... Si is already slower than previous gen.. i cant imagine how slow this thing will be with the added weight. It really should have the TLX's 2.0L motor and with 6mt.... that is what i would call the next Integra..
But most of us already saw this coming... so dont act like yall surprised

Spiritually, I think something like that would be more in line with the Integra GS-R.

The RS/LS/GS Integras were always slightly more than a regular Civic but less than a Civic Si when it came to power. The current one seems to fit that mold, if not exceed it a little bit by being on par with the Si's power.

At that time the Si was the top dog Civic as there was no Type R in the US. The modern day Si is considerably slower than a GTI and probably more competitive with a normal Golf.

Just because the Si was the fastest Civic in the country doesn't mean the the base Integra is always going to be benchmarked against the fastest Civic in the country. If it were, then you'd also expect a substantial price increase since the fastest Civic is now $10K more than an Si. As it is, the Integra is about $3K more than the Si. Want it to have the 2.0T? You're probably looking at mid-to-high 30s. At that price level I suspect a good amount of their young prospective buyers are going to be priced out.
