This.
When I picked up my 07 AV6 sedan, I reflected that I should have at least considered the Hyundai Sonata (last gen) in addition to the Camry and Altima and pledged that I'd do so next time.
Fast forward five years, I picked up a 12 Accord EX and still never considered the Sonata (current gen) nor Optima.
Bottomline: Missteps aside, the Honda name still means more to me than Hyundai and Kia....even if the latter two present better value. (And as an aside, I'd never consider the Sorrento over the RDX.)

Jeff @ TOV posted his first drive review of the ILX: http://www.vtec.net/articles/view-ar...cle_id=1057682
I'm surprised by the real world mpg that Jeff got without even trying:
2.0 5AT: 35mpg (this is the same as the EPA hwy figure, and 7 mpg more than the EPA combined figure)
Hybrid: 43mpg (over 10% better than EPA rating)
I can live with TSX-level of performance with these mpg numbers when gas price in Vancouver is $5/gal!

Shocking
Another Honda hybrid that does much better than the EPA estimates.
Very similar engine as our CR-Z, so I'm not surprised.

Both MPG figures are from the trip computer and could be off the real MPG. And since the test was in the desert I have a feeling a lot of the test loop was easy 2 lane hwy type driving. While it may have a couple of more features than a TSX, the very small street price difference would make the TSX a no brainer over this.

Huh? I'm sitting in Scottsdale right now...where is the supposed "mountainous terrain" that is "high enough for snow in the winter?"

That would make a little more sense; about 2 hours North of the Scottsdale area and definitely more "Mountainous" (pine and snow in the winter).

But like biker pointed out, it was 35 mpg from a trip computer, let's wait and see what a few more tests have to say. But I doubt it will have any trouble doing 30+. But it has 150HP, it's the least it should do.

Like I said, and you apparently didn't read, the test was done OUTSIDE of Scottsdale. Base camp for the event was at the Four Seasons Hotel which is right next to McDowell Mountain and on the edge of the Tonto National Forest which can go as high as almost 8,000 ft. The drive mostly took place within the Tonto and on the 87 which cuts through the mountains. Oh, and it also was snowing the day of check-in for the event. If your stilling sitting in Scottsdale, maybe look out the window?

Good, so you're familiar with the road and the terrain it covers and are now aware about what I was referring to. Maybe someone should contact the Four Seasons and request that they not refer to the city of their location as "Scottsdale", which is about 22 miles away from downtown Scottsdale (LA is about 120 miles from SD, so not exactly the same).

My bad. I took your comment "You clearly can't read a map or comprehend geography" which was directed at me as personal and insulting. Can't imagine what else you could have meant by that. Moving on...

I'm saying that your facts are wrong. I'm saying that you should stop before you let your posts get out of hand. You know as well as I do that you can be argumentative and not in a constructive manner.

Acura hosted a media event introducing both the 2013 ILX and RDX (impressions coming soon) out in Scottsdale, AZ last month, and we were lucky enough to have been invited.

The location of the hotel is on the outskirts of Scottsdale. It's time to get over the location though, as that clearly is not the objective of this thread, nor am I.
The point is that Biker was under the impression that the test route was through flat desert terrain, and I was only trying to let him know that it was not in the typical flat desert that he was thinking, and was actually on roads with varying curves and elevation. That's all.

I've been very quiet and patient as of late about you and your posts for a long time since our past run-ins on the forum, but I gotta come out and say what others are probably already thinking. Since so many of your conversations with members end with you posting this, why not cut to the chase and simply PM everyone you wish to have a conversation with from the get-go so that you don't clutter our threads up with commentary that so many of our members find no value in. Just some constructive criticism from one Acura lover to another.
Edit: (I meant to attach the following comment to this post)
The only reason why I state this is the internet is all about open discussion. If you haven't figured that out already, I and so many others really don't know what more we can tell you.

PS.
We've only had one "run-in" in my decade plus on here if I'm correct.

I'm not going to go down this path with you again and I'm not going to let this proliferate into another heated debate in a public setting or PM setting. I simply offered a perspective and criticism about how your conversations with members sometimes end and I will leave it at that.

I was merely adding to Biker's comment and giving him information that he was missing.

What I would say to the owner of an Acura ILX;
"Ummm, I'm gonna need you to go ahead come in tomorrow. So if you could be here around 9 that would be great, mmmk... oh oh! and I almost forgot ahh, I'm also gonna need you to go ahead and come in on Sunday too, kay. We ahh lost some people this week and ah, we sorta need to play catch up."

Follow along slowly - The Four Seasons was the starting point. If the drive was as you described, it would need to go through Payson; about 70 miles away and at an elevation of just under 5,000 feet. When you described the testing the way you did, it was misleading. At some point, it's okay for you to admit your mistake

So the drive was outside of Scottsdale? As I described? HAIL MARY!! BTW I don't know anything about the drive going to Payson. The 188 to the 88 seems like a better choice. My bad if I mislead anyone to think that the testing was done IN Scottsdale, by saying it was done OUTSIDE of Scottsdale.

Dude, get over it. You're the only one beating this horse. Next time I'll use GPS coordinates to describe locations to make it easier for locals like yourself.
