The front fender in picture 6 reminds me too much of a Nissan Rogue. Do. Not. Like.

I actually like it a lot. the RDX is just too bland for my tastes, why didnt Acura use this SUV for 2G RDX.

Let the Chinese market has them all. Just don't import any to North America.

Acura is considering a compact crossover to complement the Honda brand's upcoming Fit-based utility vehicle.

The vehicle could parallel the Honda Vezel, which debuted at November's Tokyo Motor Show and hits U.S. showrooms later this year. Honda has yet to announce the Vezel's U.S. market name.

The Vezel shares about half its components with the Fit, including the platform and powertrain. It is positioned a sub-compact counterpart to the Civic-derived CR-V crossover.

At a test drive for the Vezel this week, the chief engineer for that vehicle's drivetrain said the company is studying a similar vehicle for the Acura brand. He pointed to a concept shown at last year's Shanghai auto show called the Acura SUV-X.

Honda Motor Co. calls the SUV-X a global concept, but says it primarily targets the Chinese market. At the debut, Acura said it plans local production and sales in China by 2016.

Could the Acura compact crossover come to North America?

Honda spokeswoman Yuka Abe said the company is still deciding what markets outside China will get it.

But Honda executives are carefully studying the luxury compact crossover segment, said Naohisa Morishita, chief engineer for the Vezel's drivetrain. "There is a market for it worldwide, not just in China," he said. "Personally, I think Acura needs it."

The SUV-X would slot below the RDX, which shares underpinnings with the CR-V and is currently Acura's entry crossover.

The Honda Vezel shares about half its components with the Fit.

A smaller offering could play to Acura's strength in utility vehicles and tap growing demand for compact crossovers that has spurred rivals to launch the BMW X1 and Audi Q3.

In terms of size, the SUV-X concept is the same height as the Vezel, and about a foot longer and 3.5 inches longer.

Its styling and stance mirror that of the Vezel, with flared rear fenders, dramatic side creasing and a sloped roofline.

Like the Vezel, the Acura crossover will be engineered in Japan, Honda said. Both will be manufactured in China.

Acura please leave this alone. You just did good with the TLX. Focus on making the ILX not a piece of crap instead.

What is this? a Beak Double Double from In N Out.

Just when I was a little bit impressed by TLX design, Acura strikes this beak at me.

Acura please make this as is very wanted!
That will kill Encore, X1 and Q3... and Mini.
Beaky SUVs have huge success!

And like I said, US Vezel will top the sales.

Don't be so offended just because Acura did not design a car in your likeness, Statler.

We know this is wrong since the Vezel for the US will be built in Mexico along side the Fit. If this Acura version ever sees the light of day for the US, it will likely be built there also.

Fix that styling, don't go cheap on the powertrain and features, and this X1 competitor may have a market.

I really hope they don't release this, how is a Fit based vehicle good for the brand? Also, it has horrible styling, as if this was done by the same team that did the 4G TL.

It was almost exactly three years ago that Acura previewed a new compact crossover with its SUV-X concept car.

Now, we’re just weeks away from seeing the production version.

The Japanese brand has confirmed it will use this month’s 2016 Beijing Auto Show to unveil the production version of the SUV-X, tipped to be called a CDX.

The vehicle will be the 1st Acura manufactured in China and may even be exported to Acura’s other markets, including the United States. It is expected to be related to Honda’s HR-V, already on sale here, and target the Audi Q3, BMW X1, Lincoln MKC and Mercedes-Benz GLA.

Acura’s parent company Honda will also present a new crossover in Beijing. The vehicle will be the production version of the Concept D unveiled a year ago, a rakish crossover not unlike the unsuccessful Honda Crosstour.

We’ll have more details soon as the 2016 Beijing Auto Show gets underway April 25. For more coverage on the event, head to our dedicated hub.
