I'm a BMW enthusiast, but sorry... I'm not feeling the 5's headlights, or rear end/tail lights.
Even after the tuner is done with it...
I don't like the wings on the headlights... and the rear end strill bugs me...
I'll still hold some reservation until I see it in person....

What they wound up doing was giving the car the standard AC Schnitzer works—an elegant aero package with detailed accents, interior accessories, suspension upgrades, and wheels that cost more than a really bad night in Vegas—the results of which can be found on the new AC Schnitzer ACS5.
Claus Ettensberger Corp., exclusive North American importer and distributor for Schnitzer products (cecwheels.com), put together its own ACS5 for the 2003 SEMA show. That ACS5 recently completed a tour of American auto shows and is now back at CEC’s West Los Angeles showroom, where I was handed the keys for a day.
CEC is kind of like the metrosexual euro-snob of the aftermarket tuning industry, but in a good way. Like Bono. And one look inside its glitzy showroom offers enough proof to validate the arrogance. A Novitec supercharged Ferrari 360 lords over the center of the floor, flanked by a Tech Art Porsche GT Street S on one side and a Schnitzer X5 on the other. There should be a one-off Lorinser Commemorative Mercedes SL GS03 wide body somewhere in the mix, but Stephon Marbury of the New York Knicks snagged that supercar before it had completed its media blitz.
The ACS5 was built off the BMW 530i platform that comes with a 3.0-liter inline six and six-speed Step-tronic auto gearbox. The first thing I noticed about the car was it didn’t have a supercharger. Mike Shartsis, Schnitzer brand manager at CEC, said the German company is working overtime developing a system for the 5 Series, but it is still six months to a year away from production. Shartsis added it would not likely make it to America due to fuel emission standards.
What the ACS5 does have is more visual enhancements than Cher on a good day. The Bangle silhouette still resembles something made out of wax that has been under the sun for too long, but with way more techno cool.
The obvious additions are the lightweight 20-inch Schnitzer Type IV alloy wheels. Without a doubt, Schnitzer wheel design ranks up there with Shania Twain videos, Bill Murray performances, and the short shelf-life of a sitcom spinoff as one of the most dependable things in the world today. The only thing that could make its wheels more attractive is if they appreciated in value. By the way, have I mentioned how much I liked the Type IV wheels on the ACS5?
The Michelins may seem hairs away from the wheel wells, but my drive was never disrupted by scraping or rough tire tracking, due to stiff lowering springs and overall fine-tuning. That is something the CEC staff jackhammered into my cerebral cortex the moment I stepped into their den of envy—the company’s emphasis on performance.
It should go without question.
After all, Schnitzer is BMW’s partner in motorsport development. And in the past three-plus decades it has been responsible for building BMW race cars for touring, GT, GTR and Proto-type classes—most notably, the gorgeous V12 LMR that won the 24 Hour of Le Mans in 1999. Accordingly, CEC sponsors a handful of race car drivers in America, including reigning CART champ Paul Tracy.
Schnitzer’s racing background also finds its way inside the cabin of the ACS5, which is dominated by silver carbon fiber—on the dash, center console, door handles, shift knob, e-brake handle and steering wheel. According to Shartsis, Schnitzer employs the same vendors as BMW, which explains the amazing fitment of the Schnitzer pieces. Also, in Germany Schnitzer parts are only available at BMW dealers.
Since the Schnitzer after-cat exhaust and antiroll bars were not available when CEC built the ACS5, and thus not on our test car, I’m not able to offer a complete assessment of the drive quality. Still, if I owned the ACS5 (with all the fixins), it’s safe to say performance would not be the first thing on my mind. It is a ride designed more for the Hamptons than a high-speed getaway through canyon country. And at just less than $70,000 (including the car), it is priced that way too.

The car looks alot better than it looks stock...thats for sure. But one thing i just noticed is that the dash looks almost exactly like the new M45's looks. Or at least very similar

With the new BMW 5-series saloon and the new BMW 5-series Touring, in 2011 two new 5-series models have been awarded the prestigious iF Award for outstanding product design. Equally prizeworthy is the AC Schnitzer ACS5 Sport S Saloon based on the BMW 5-series saloon, which celebrates its premiere at the Geneva Motor Show from 3rd to 13th March.
With this concept vehicle, the Aachen-based tuning specialist AC Schnitzer is demonstrating new and unusual aspects of driving pleasure.
