9ff: GT9-R (based on Porsche 911) news

From WCF...

The folks over at 9ff have a serious addiction to speed. They spent the best part of a year developing the original 987 hp GT9. A monster of a machine that they managed to beat down the track at a death defying 409km/h, a good 2km/h faster than the Bugatti Veyron but just shy of the world production car speed record currently held by SSC Ultimate Aero which stands at 411.71km/h(255.83mph).

Now the German Tuner has released the first image of the GT9 R which boasts a massive power output of 1120 horsepower(835.18kW) and 1050Nm (774.34lb-ft) of toque. No further details have been released yet, but with the Essen Tuning Show coming up at the end of the month, a betting man may have a flutter at more juicy details surfacing around the said time.

Greenlighted for Production

From Supercars: http://www.supercars.net/cars/4682.html

Following a series of prototypes, 9ff are ready to sell their 9ff GT9-R. It's a radical departure from previous tuning efforts which includes relocating the engine and manufacturing a new rear section for the twin-turbo engine. It's body is entirely new and made for outright top speed.

The first GT9 appeared at the 2007 Essen Motor Show with financial backing from H&R-Spezialfedern. It was specifically built to break top speed records and claimed a top speed of 400 kph. Company founder Jan Fatthofer drove it to 409 kph and this prototype set the impetus for several more cars.

In 2008 the next evolution of the project took shape with the GT9-R. It appeared to be a motor sports version of the first design with an updated front end and fully trimmed interior. With huge decals it was launched at the 2008 Essen Motorshow with a claimed top speed of 414 kph. Furthermore, engine developments included a stage 3 package which increased power to an astonishing 1120 bhp. Now, nearly a year later, 9ff is ready to begin production and sale of the 9ff for the general public.

The newest version takes the Prototype's shape and updates it for road use. This includes proper signals and a new front end. The prototypes set the stage for an impressive design: the entire body is built around a new chassis with a Porsche 911 front chassis section. Attached to this is a new carbon fiber body and a new rear sub frame. This reduces overall weight to just 1600 lbs.

In their brochure 9ff claim a top speed of 414 kph (257.09 mph). The say production is limited just 20 units and the exterior panels can be modified to suit the individual preferences of the first owner.

Power comes from a blown and enlarged version of the Porsche boxer-6 which has three distinct stages of tune. The most radical produces 1120 bhp and can reack 0-100 kph in 2.8 seconds or how about 0-300 kph in 15.8 seconds. The other stages on offer have 750 bhp and 987 bhp.
