No...not fast enough...

From Supercars...

A chassis for more than 400 km/h.

If you want to drive fast, there is one thing your car really needs: adhesion! Without this, your dream of the absolute maximum speed can not become a reality . That is why, the speed specialist 9ff from Dortmund has teamed up with the development partner H&R-Spezialfedern.

No other manufacturer can pride itself on having such an extensive know-how of Porsches as well as maximum velocity (V/max). The fastest standard Porsche Carrera GT and all Alzen Porsches are equipped with top class suspension systems by H&R as well as their own development the Mission 400 Plus.

At the end of 2004, 9ff reached 372.2 km/h with a tuned Porsche Turbo. Later, their top-speed tuned GT3 with 840 hp reached 388 km/h. In early 2006, it was followed by the world’s fastest convertible based on the current 997 reaching an incredible speed of 381 km/h.

In cooperation with the car customising company from Dortmund, the specialists from H&R-Spezialfedern want to break the magic mark of 400 km/h this autumn.

True specialists are now working under the body, weighing no more than 1300 kilograms, everything seems to be in favour of this project.

Thanks to H&R’s experience with touring race cars as well as the super sports car CLK DTM AMG powered by an engine with 582 hp, the chassis could be significantly improved. The rear axle now features a special push rod suspension as used in motorsports. At the front axle, the weight of the shock absorbers was once again reduced by applying high-tech materials such as, aluminium and high-strength steel. The inner friction
was minimised by a special linear bearing, also used in Formula 1, resulting in a significantly reduced breakaway torque and consequently in better response behaviour. Thus, the driving stability is enhanced and a misalignment at high speeds can almost be ruled out.

In addition to this, the car now also features a mid-mounted engine for better balance. The engine power was again increased from 837 hp to an incredible 987 hp.

yeah...as much as I love porsches, I have to agree. The rims and incomplete look of the rear is what's killing it softly...

9FF GT9 Hits 409KM/H

From 9ff via WCF...

We have known for a long time that the 9ff engineers intended for their GT9 to take the world record for the fastest production car in the world, now the German tuners are claiming they have achieved the feat with a run of 409 km/h at a track in Papenburg on 10th April.

But after searching through our record books and more specifically the current world record speed set by the SSC Ultimate Aero that stands at 255.83mph which translates to 411.71km/h meaning this claim can be thrown out the window. As a consolation 9ff can be happy in the knowledge that they did at least beat the Bugatti Veyron which previously held the record at 407km/h, however one question comes to mind – why did it take so long for 9ff to make an announcement?

The GT9 is loosely based on the Porsche 911 GT3 but that is about as far as the similarities go as it is shares just 2% of its components. The GT9 is both lower and longer and you will find the engine in the middle of the car rather than at the rear for better weight distribution.

Power comes courtesy of a quite insane 987bhp 4 litre flat six twin turbo engine mated to a six-speed transmission. Despite the heavy power behind this machine, the statistics aren't quite as impressive with 0-60mph standing at 4.2 seconds – 1.7 seconds slower than the veyron.

That's a nice looking car, except for the open tail area.

But why the covers over the rear wheels on the new pics, and 0-60 in 4.2- traction issues??

for comparison here's an interior fuse box from an Audi (unknown model, just googled it)

Though most cars have fuse boxes under the hood too... so many 9ff combined them both together?

Usually power from the battery/alternator has to be regulated to a certain amperage (a measure of electrical current flow) in order not to overload some electrical components. The power goes through the fuse, and IF its too high (the rating on the fuse is the number on the top of it) then it'll blow the fuse, which severs the connection to the electrical component, thus saving you a ton of grief and money. Instead of spending hundreds of $$$ to get a new electrical part, just go down to Kragen's and buy a box of like 15 fuses for a few bucks.

Usually the fuse box(es) on a car are covered by a panel, too. On Hondas and Acuras at least one fuse box is under the dash next to the steering wheel column.

I assume the 9ff's fusebox is exposed since it's not really a road car and is subject to miscellaneous changes and gremlins.

Post 2011 9ff GT9 CS

From Supercars: http://www.supercars.net/cars/5540.html

At the 2011 Essen Motor Show, 9ff displayed a one-of GT9 known as the club sport. It was built for a client to take the already radical 1000 bhp , 400 kph GT9 to the next level.

From the outside, the CS has a new front splitter, side skirts and a more integrated rear wing. It also features air extractors at the top of each fender and a revised air intake in front of the rear wheels.

Inside, the car is stripped out and fitted with a huge roll-cage that looks ready for the track.

The engine is same unit as the base model which is turbocharged to 750, 987 or 1,120 bhp.

9ff say they can build a similar car for €375,000.
