5mph Crash Tests: TSX = poor, TL = marginal
Sorry I don't have a link to this, but I saw a blurb in USA Today on Monday stating that the TSX rated "poor" while the TL was "marginal" in a series of 5mph bumper crash tests. In typical USA Today fashion, the "story" was about 30 words long so there was very little detail.
The methodology seemed to be a series of four 5mph bumper collisions. The rating was then based on average cost to fix the damage from each.
In comparison, the Mitsubishi Galant was highly ranked.
This seems like a pretty ridiculous test. Isn't passenger safety more important than repair cost? Though I guess this repair cost factors into insurance rates, too...
Sorry I don't have any more detail. Did anyone else see this? A search of the USA Today web site turns up nothing.
