2004 Global and Company Vehicle Production Figures
On TV Show Autoline Detroit the following tables were presented on last week's show that I found extremely interesting and I am sure you will too:
2004 Regional Vehicle Production (Source OICA): 1. Asia = 23 Million Vehicles 2. Europe = 20.8M 3. North America = 16.2M 4. South America = 2.5M 5. Rest = 420K ------------------ 2004 Company Vehicle Production (Source: Annual Reports) 1. GM = 8.24M 2. Toyota = 7M 3. Ford = 6.64M 4. Renault/Nissan = 5.95M 5. VW = 5.14M 6. Daimler/Chrysler = 4.6M 7. PSA = 3.37M 8. Honda = 2.98M 9. Hyundai/Kia = 2.94M 10. Fiat = 1.766M |
Toyota the second largest automaker on the planet officially and look at Renault/Nissan just half a million vehicles behind Ford. Hyundai/Kia looks like they might surpass Honda soon!

That was my other thought which I missed posting. They actually dont even have presence in big cars or even trucks, including SUVs. Even more impressive. |

Right. By "dont have presence" I meant, no presence at the top of the charts compared to the competition. Bottom line, their numbers are almost exclusively based on small or very small cars. |
