Angry XM Radio (not TL related)

I enjoy the XM radio in my TL so much that I wanted to backfit my other car for XM reception. However, I'm pretty damn disappointed in the selection of XM tuners and the nickle and dime tactics of having to buy everything separately (car kits, home kits, modulators, etc). For example, the car kit required to make the Skyfi unit work doesn't include the FM modulator; you have to buy that as a separate item. I'm not a happy camper.

I hate to be a cheap-ass about this, but XM needs to come up with better integrated solutions for those of us who want to expand our XM experience. Right now it looks like they're taking advantage of a semi-monopoly (with SIRIUS of course).

Does anybody else feel this way? Also, is SIRIUS a viable alternative or are they just as bad?

Sirius radios are worse.... they look like world war 2 surplus items.. big ugly and bulky and just as many parts.

XMs stuff is getting better and better.. they have a SINGLE radio now from alpine which INCLUDES XM.. no need for kits or receivers.. my friend got it and it is great..

i think it was just a mnatter of time... dont forget, those kits are made for people that do NOT have xm ready radios... so they are like CD adapters and things... clumsy add ons.. but they DO a good job....

Nickle and dime... when something is new, that is what happens.. VCRs were once 600 dollars.... more even!

Go to www.crutchfield.com and they will send everything you need for installation in your vehicle. I purchased a XM Roady for my 04 Trailblazer and then decided I wanted the FM moulator (the roady comes with the cassette converter). I purchased the FM modulator at Walmart and found GM uses a smaller antenna plug. Radio Shack had the plug converters for $12 each and I needed 2. I then took the modulator back to Walmart and ordered the modulator from Crutchfield for the same price as Walmart and they included the 2 converter plugs at no charge.
